Hi,
I'm just nosey, and finding someone who is intimately acquainted with the NAAFI takes me right back. So, did you like it?
That's all

Hi Sho.
It was a long time ago and the memory is dim (a bit like me sometimes). I worked at the head office in Kennington, called Imperial Court. I never actually got out to see the *real* NAAFI.
It was a weird place to work (I found this out later - it was my first job, and I assumed it was normal). Most of the older managers were ex.NCOs who tried to run their departments along military lines. As you can imagine, this didn't go down well with the unions !
We certainly had some interesting times. I actually stood on a picket line !
What are your NAAFI connections ?
Nikki

I'm an Army brat! Then after leaving school I worked in a Junior Ranks Club (NAAFI bar) for a few months while I decided not to go to University. Then I joined the Army myself.
The NAAFI is certainly a strange organisation - I can well believe the problems with ex NCOs. They probably tried to run their families like the Army too.
I have to say that their supermarkets are possibly the worst ever. Except for German supermarkets which are in a class of their own!
What are you up to now then? (I work for a computer component manufacturer)

So long as you promise not to tell anyone ... I work for a local authority at the moment, and a right shambles they are too. Most of my previous experience has been in the private sector, predominantly the banking and finance part.
I'm trying to leave (after after 14 months) as I can't stand it anymore !

I know what you mean. Don't tell anyone, my Mum is in the same boat, but she's been there about 6 years. She is due to retire in 3 years, and can't decide if she should stick it out or take her chances in the big bad world of looking for work.
What sort of thing are you looking for (how about going back to the good ol' NAAFI?? ha ha ha )
