Hi Paff!

I know you're a busy fella, but I thought I'd let you know I'm putting together a (much shorter) Entry on Dartmoor's folklore, at A13314728. It might make you pine for home! If there's anything you want to add, let me know - there's obviously a collaborative writers' credit if you feel like doing a paragraph or two.

Hope it's all going well in the tax haven smiley - smiley

Hey Rich,

Thanks for the heads-up about A13314728. I've already had a quick gander and it looks good. And yes, I'm pining for home - weeping into my overpriced (but smiley - cool none-the-less coffee and cheesecake). I see you've already covered the obvious Widecombe Fair, plus you've got headings for some I've not heard of, so I don't know that I'll be able to help much.

As for the tax haven, well, it's work, but the novelty has already worn off. And I've been too busy to catch up and rabbit on about smiley - tea, smiley - coffee and the meaning of life (and wildlife), etc.

*note to self*
Must try harder

smiley - cheers

That's alright, mate, I just like the Entries and passages you've done on Devon, and your style would have fitted a folklore Entry perfectly smiley - smiley I'll let you know how it goes, anyway!

Pretty busy this end too; finished my camps last week so have moved on to umpiring for the rest of the summer! Still, it keeps me out of the house smiley - biggrin

Good to hear from you smiley - cider

Now I come to think about it, there is something on the Dartmoor Folklore thing. The missus was telling me while I was driving (on the way to the bluebell lawn at Hound Tor) so I wasn't taking it all in, but it's got something to do with a snowed-in inn and a dead body or something. I'll look into it. Can't promise anything though.

Talking about camping... Are you one of those camp leaders who confiscates everyones watches on the basis that "it's not proper camping if you can tell the time"? Eldest nipper had this happen on his school camping trip last year, and youngest nipper was horrified that it might happen to her. I say, good on the camp leaders. Having torches is about as technological as camping should get.

Aha, well-remembered! That's a story at the Warren House Inn, traveller comes across a body in the trunk in his bedroom, spends all night fretting, and in the morning is told it's the landlord's father who can't be buried because of all the snow? Something like that?

We take civilisation from the kids on camps, saying if you want to be in the forest, you have to live like it - eat when hungry, sleep when tired, get up when it's light etc. So no watches, phones, mp3 players, personal stereos and so on. Some of them seem to get withdrawl symptoms smiley - smiley
