Almost Had a Fit

I just clicked on the my space button, and it came up with an error. Clicked on it again, and I got a blank space! I thought it'd been wiped or deleted or something. But, it was 3rd time lucky.

Remember to comment in the Ask h2g2 thread about G8 and Make poverty History, it's turning into an interesting discussion...

Make Poverty History

THE FOLLOWING IS AN E-MAIL I WROTE CONCERNING THE MAKE POVERTY HISTORY CAMPAIGNS. FEEL FREE TO COPY THIS AND PUT IT INTO AN E-MAIL OF YOUR OWN. I BELIEVE THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT CAUSE AND IS SOMETHING WE SHOULD ALL DO SOMETHING ABOUT...

Today, 30 000 children in the world would have died from starvation. Literally millions of people are abjected to extreme poverty every single day. In Africa, there are many, many people who are mal-nutritioned, hungry, un-educated, illitrate, with AIDs, and faced with conflict every day of their lives. This is not acceptable.

We, as a world community, must help our fellow people in poverty stricken nations. The way to do this is through the governments. In July, England will be hosting the G8 conference. The world leaders of the 8 most powerful nations on earth will come together to discuss world issues. They must help put an end to poverty. We want to put pressure on them to increase aid, cancel all debt, increase trade justice, and help these nations re-build.

To put an end to poverty by 2015, as the UN has set the goal to, we can help in many ways. We may not all be able to go on the Long march for Justice in Edinburgh, or to one of Bob Geldof's Live8 concerts, both happening on July 2nd, but there is plenty we can do to help the make Poverty History campaign. The goal of the campaign is to make the world's population speak out. You can e-mail the G8 finance ministers or world leaders (see links below), or add your names to one of the many online petitions. The world wide campaign is trying to get everyone to wear a simple white band, which can be bought in some countries, though not Australia, or simply made yourself. They should have a message on, maybe the 'Make Poverty History' slogan, although they should be predominantely white. You can make one out of an old piece of fabric.

Wear your band from now, but especially on the first White Band Day, July 1. This day millions will join us in protest, and make their voices heard to the world.

Please, forward this message on to everyone you can think to, all over the world, to help make poverty history...

The below links are available to find out more...

I wish for h2g2-fame....

Wouldn't it be nice to be one of these well known and respected h2g2 researchers? It's like being famous, but without being followed, spyed on and put in the tabloids. I'd love it.....
