The artist formally known as me

or more to the point -

For a species of analytical observers, do we actually understand anything completely??

- I would doubt that we understand anything completely.
- What is an analytical observer?

How boring would it be if everything were known with absolute definitiveness? History of science has taught us that the closer you look, more details than you ever imagined become visible, and we see no sign of that stopping.

good point. But doesn't science and the media in general give the impression that we understand (in its truest sense) many things...

p.s. we're all observers - some are just that bit more analytical

Heck yes. Science does give the impression to the casually interested, because if it didn't, funding would certainly go down the drain in a hurry. So, yes, we are all for sale. So there's the dichotomy: The HHGuide has never had a problem with it. See Ford's behaviour in that cut-throat bar and the editorial policies in such cases. On the other hand we all strife for purity in action and intent. Most of the entries here are written in that spirit. I fully intend to do both.

Cheers,
