Actually, I think the point is not that copyright violation is not reprehensible (it is), nor that one can't do anything about it (one can), but that one can't make a statement about a legal matter when it is sub judice or yet unproven.
Like the reporter's dodge of 'alleged', we may need to discuss same in guarded terms. (Or why I'm still researching today's assertion about the activities of my government...)
I've been trying to find a way to help test out possible forms of recourse, but my Barney Google search has turned up the information that my EG entries were deemed unworthy of copying.

I'm actually quite surprised by the eds answer, and it's definitely caused me to reconsider posting anything of mine on the site again.
So - how are you feeling now, Gnomon?

Thanks, Eds, for your reply.
You are right. A BBC website is not the place for me to publish accusations of plagiarism, even if the site they plagiarised is a BBC site.
I've contacted the perpetrators directly.

Absolutely.
For all you know, they might employ an infinite number of monkeys bashing typewriters.

Like the pop group Chumbawamba. Their name was actually created by a monkey bashing at a typewriter.

The owners of the website have now removed the plagiarised content from their site.

> You can of course say that 'this article looks very similar to my article'. But you cannot say 'this article looks very similar to my article because they stole it'.
And can you say 'this article looks exactly the same as my article'?
TRiG.

'This article reiterates my article'?
though it would have been nicer had the article remained posted there, only correctly attributed.

Well, the website owners are going to write to the mathematician Professor Sir Bryan Thwaites and ask him to explain the topic. If his explanation is not as clear as mine, they're going to use mine and attribute it to me.
Key: Complain about this post
