Why can't I edit Journal entries? Not even to correct a spelling mistake?

Hi Follenglut - and welcome!
I am Ottox and I have been here only for a week, but I'll try to answer your questions though I'm not sure I remember all of them. smiley - smiley
First: You can edit your own Guide entries at the bottom of your personal "My space"-page, but you can't edit Journal entries and Forum postings.
Second:
Don't know where to find the *good* forums smiley - smiley, but the 5 busiest can be found somewhere at the mainpage http://www.h2g2.com. Better though, it is to look at the page http://www.h2g2.com/INFO, where you'll find the 20 latest forum postings whereever they would be.

If these answers isn't good enough just ask again, here or at my page smiley - smiley

Thanks for your help. I followed all that, but it had occurred to me that my Journal is *mine* in the same way that my guide entry is mine, and logically it would be fair to allow me to edit it if I so choose. I understand that forum entries can't be edited, that's normal procedure in a forum, but the Journal is something different. After sleeping on it, I realised that you can't have editable Journal entries and also invite replies, because a Journal owner could edit the original after a reply and no-one would then be able to follow the conversation. There are only two solutions - either have the Journal as a Guide entry, to which others could contribute comments by way of the associated conversation, or make sure before I post to the Journal that I get all the spelling mistakes out. Clearly, the latter is my only option at the moment so I will just have to be more careful!

Cheers

I can understand the need to change/delete journal entries. H2G2 is always upgrading, and this may be added in the future. Of course, sometimes the upgrades create this need. One of my journal entries had a long string of smiley - smiley, separated by spaces. Shortly after, H2G2 introduced the Alabaster skin. For some reason, my smiles grouped together and decided to stay on one line, pushing my Forum postings (which I use very often) into a small corner. I had to create a bunch of blank entries to push it off the bottom of my page. Anyway, that's my rambling, nothing-to-do-with-the-current-topic story.
