Thank you.
Yes..it's pouring cats and dogs today...so the pond is filling nicely...
I just heard on the radio that Kodak are gone bust. I feel quite sad...I once wrote a short story that featured a 'Kodak Nightsnap'...It was a made up name for a made up camera you could use at night. In the story it was used by 2 men who had comissioned to steal some rare birds eggs from some sort of exotic bird of prey. They used the nightsnap to show the woman who had comissioned the stealing that the eggs existed...She had a meagerie in a big house..even inclusing a special tank which mimicked the tide full of cuttle fish..
I don't know what I've done with the story.
I'm rambling and only half awake.
But thank you toybox....

It sounds like an interesting story. 'Kodak Nightsnap' is a snappy name Well, it's a shame for Kodak. From my own, emotionally motivated point of view anyway, not for economic reasons (I couldn't possibly judge).
The pond is filling? I have no idea how to keep a pond. Did you drain it before, or did it, er, unfill naturally by itself? Is it much work to look after?

I made the pond around 18months ago by digging a hole in the garden...then putting down the most expensive heavy duty liner, so I didn't have to mess around with carpet or sand first.
It's guarenteed for about 30 years I recall.
Then I filled it with tap water. (Once and never again, as I read that it is very high in nitrates.) What's needed in the ecosystem is more ponds just composed of rain water ie pristine.
Since I built the pond we had drought and it nearly evaporated all away. But the westerlies from the Atlantic are back again.
It has 'frog bit' and 'starwort'....traditional indigenous weed.
Basically you do nothing to it though...that is the best way to have a pond.

Things find it of their own accord.
Insects in spring and summer see the reflection below. A pond skater had turned up with a couple of hours of me originally filling it on a sunny day.
A frog appeared last year...also newts.

Your garden is is quite alive! When you describe it I am always happy to have google (and google images) a click away Pond skaters, for example: sometimes I wonder how they experience the world (a pond being something you can land on instead of sinking into).
Weren't there pictures of your pond on your photographs page? I must have a link somewhere...

Off to the pub now.
Yes I had that funny sunken aquarium.
I'm quite cross because a lot of my pond photos are lost. The stupid thing Mac do in forever updating iPhoto..oh it's complicated and I had to get a new Mac.
Anyway I'll do more photos next year...since it got more mature ( just like me ) with the wild flower meadow developping around it.
Yeah this is a link to my stuff.
