I hope you don't mind coming back (like a bad penny )
I was thinking about tents today (went past the outdoor shop today and it always makes me want to get my hiking boots on). I like a small tent, they are quite cozy and I like to hike, but I've never really found a small tent that I like that I don't need my car for. I mentioned my Force 10 before, absolutely the best tent I ever had bar none, but... it weighs a ton (all the poles and canvass etc)

Good title.
My tent is a Vango Hurricane (2010) model. It wouldn't be the lightest to cart around on foot. But there is no sign of me doing that at present.
As a student I visited the Pyrenees with a fellow woman student (where the Caddisfly larvae project happened) We took a 'Blacks' tent that wasn't so light..but I'm pleased because it had a cotton inner, which made a massive difference once we reached the heat of the Spanish side. We split the tent between us to carry...but really we had the most incredible amount of equipment for the research as well...somehow we managed it.
It would be good to do some sort of entry on tents.

Off to my tent now...just slightly drunk. it's supposed to fall to 3 centigrade...
I need a lover with me in the tent
No worries..I've a very strong imagination... and I'm not kidding about that...

spent about 5 minutes in it tonight. Not tired enough.
I'll return later for the planes starting to come in to Heathrow at 5am...

Is it very noisy with the planes, or don't you notice them any more? We lived in Windsor when I was at junior school - I had a project once where I made a graph of the frequency of overhead planes and we were surprised at how many it was because we didn't really notice them any more.
Except for the extiting times when Concorde flew overhead because we were at the point where you could hear the sonic boom. For weeks and weeks we kids would all run outside when it went over (except for Tuesdays because that was when Spiderman was on and nobody moved for anything when that was on)
I like cotton linings for tents - but they are heavy, we're spoiled with modern tent-making materials! We're ( and I) thinking about doing the Way of St James and for that we'd probably take a pop-up tent for the days when we don't make it to a hostel. But I don't anticipate bad weather (cold or much rain) for that, just heat and tiredness.

I'm thinking maybe we could do some sort of joint entry to do with tents/camping if you want...and get others involved. (But I'm not interested in any sort of link to the 'Occupy' movement that is presently fashionable).
I went camping with my family from a young age.
I'm not sure how we'd do it or what approach.
I'm just chucking that at you as a thought.
(I'm seriously depressed in myself at present and this might be good as a thing to work on?)

We could do a jokey connection to Occupy..but I'm interested in the actual experience of camping for its own sake...that's what I'm meaning, (even if its just in your garden).

I don't think we need to link it to occupy - that's not what I call "campling" )
But I wouldn't mind doing a collaborative entry on things like:
- what to take if you're camping - in the wild or at a campsite
- how to select a tent...
- how to put them up...

I'm not giving anything else to this place.
I contributed a lot today to various discussions about h2g2.
I thought I explained my position really clearly...and that my intentions are good ones overwhelmingly.
But I've absolutely had it when Trig doubted the my intentions are good ones.
If they want their silly childish Blue Peter style of Create...let them have it...and they don't want my ironic thing.
It makes sense if all the thinking now is so far away from anything I did at Goldsmiths.
**
Lets leave things. I absolutely cannot STAND that childish style of *thinking* that CREATE is.

I'm sorry the site is pissing you off. If you change your mind about writing anything, you know where I am (that is: hanging out on h2g2 instead of writing my essay )
