Just to say that I'm very impressed with your determination - and success - in reining in your cynicism. I'm very impressed by it. I find it hard not to show exactly what I am feeling on site.
Also, I very much appreciate it. I can't speak for anyone else, but I find the negativity really distressing. So thank you THANK YOU for your resolution.

No worries. You made me very happy with your insight into what 'Life, the Universe and Everything' might be...and a sense of equality for different sorts of excellence.

I like it, because it's separate but equal billing. 
I'll be interested to see what the hard-core Guide folks say about it. I've always wanted h2g2 to be about excellence rather than about fact.
