Actually, got a few, but I'm excited about one in particular and I wanted to tell somebody who might say in a similar situation, as I am saying in this one . . .
Oh, Goody!!
Kenneth Clark's 'The Nude' showed up in a big Royal Mail bag
along with a copy of T.E. Lawrence's 'Crusader Castles' and a few other minor things.
Oh, Goody!!

Yes I would say, 'Oh goody'
I'd be interested to hear some of what Clark says. You inspired me to send off for the box set DVD of 'Civilisation' It was £20..usually £50. Its one of those things I've been meaning to get around to watching for ages.
I saw plenty of crusader castles in Turkey. I'll never forget one starry evening with a full moon, going along the coast to just opposite the remains of one on a little island, just off shore, with my Walkman, playing some sort of classical music and sipping wine.
A very pleasant memory of my youth.

I read his book on Leonardo some time ago and I remember quite enjoying it. I'm not sure when I'll actually get to this one -- I've got so many I'm working on, with Bleak House always looming over me.

After an initial flurry on my Civilisation DVD, I must get going on it again - but it's good to take a break from it. There's a lot to be said for the original idea of watching these things once a week.
But I'm glad you are enjoying the book.

I'm having trouble concentrating on Mr. Clark's book right now because the Chileans are pulling miners out of the ground fast and furious and I find myself quite excited about it, but . . .
This passage made me chuckle:
'The drift of all popular art is towards the lowest common denominator, and, on the whole, there are more women whose bodies look like a potato than like the Knidian Aphrodite.'
Key: Complain about this post
