Sometime I wish there were a smiley smiley - smiley

Noggin's a fine fellow. I was using the tactic of appearing to disagree with one's supporters in order to strengthen the argument.

*Of course* the current war is all part of continuing global politics, And the US/Uk are part of the problem, not the solution.

smiley - laugh I had a funny feeling I'd got confused. I'm actually thinking I should take a break from that thread, I'm starting to feel like my brain is addled with it all. And I really don't hold out much hopes of anything long term changing in the Mid East until we see the back of Bush, not to mention Blair.

And Assad. And the imams who favour Ahmadinejad. And just about any Israeli politician you care to name (except possibly the (Arab) mayor of Haifa whose name currently escapes me. Jaysus. What's his name? He was thinking of running for PM...).

The sadness of it all was that Lebanon was shaping up to be a rare success story.

And now for a complete change of subject.

In reference to something you mentioned on az's blog. Don't think you're the only one with a guilty secret. Not all of us feel brave enough to be so upfront about it in public though. Hoping you understand.

They say statistically it's 1/100, so how come I know so many?

Ah. If you mean what I think you do...then I'm going to have to talk you out of your guilt. I'm off home now...but we'll have to set up a more private place to chat.

Hang on in there!

Edward what happened to your poetry question on your blog? I was about to post there and couldn't find it, so I'll post a few of my fave's here which you should be able to find online or if not have a browse in bookshop..

Browning; 'The Lost Mistress', 'A Woman's Last Word' Auden: 'As I walked out one Evening', 'Alone', 'Law like Love', 'O what is that sound', TS Elliot,; 'The Lovesong of J Alfred Profock' yeah and the 4 quartets which you mentioned, I kook and relook at them ever so often, well worth buying a book of all his stuff as it's so rich and meaningful. And 2 wonderful poems from Henry Reed, 'Naming of Parts' and 'Judging Distances'.

I really do find it's good to have the physical book though as I frequently re-read poems, according to what's going on in my life. I think I also mentioned Billy Childish, a contemporary English poet. If you hate Betjeman I reckon you'd love Childish.
