After all the big energy stuff of the last journal..I want to be quieter with this one..and the November weather here continues to be very very quiet.
But hearing that 1812 overture yesterday on the radio seemed to have a very good effect on me..it resolved something.

So do other people really relish those magic few moments when you are still conscious and awake..but you know you are sliding into sleep?
You want that moment to carry on it's so nice. But of course the next thing you know...you are awake again after a sleep.
The only time I remember being able to let that moment last was when I had bad tonsilitis as a youngster...and I was prescribed distalgesic painkillers..which are very strong..and a bit related to something a bit like mild morphine.
I was in this state where I could choose to stay awake and feel fine..or choose sleep..it didn't seem to matter.
I chose to stay awake for quite sometime..and then sleep.
I think they are much more careful about prescribing distalgesics now They are magic..

Yes, indeed! And also the similar moments when waking up (without an alarm clock). And the similar moments throughout an afternoon nap.
I find such moments bear a pleasant resemblance to mild febrile delirium and light absinthe drinking.

I love these moments, they are what keep me in bed in the morning, before you stir your limbs and really wake up. Your subconscious is free to dream while your conscious mind watches, observes, but as long as it does not interfere your dream state can continue unabated.

Yes Lanza that's an excellent description.
But why is that state so pleasurable?
I think it's a bit to do with completely letting go and feeling safe...to let stuff happen as it will.

I don't know why, but I know its the half-dream state that is quite relaxing. I get it on the beach too, lying near the sound of the waves. It's my treat to go down there when the weather is right just to chill.

I used to love that moment when I realized I was about to fall asleep. It was such a relief since I was usually having trouble falling asleep. Now I take something for sleep and I no longer have that feeling and I do miss it even though I sleep better now.
