Listened to a fair bit of cricket. It's just so nice to listen to the banter of those very ordainary and straightforward blokes. Yep blokes. And it's to do with my origins of the kind of people I can get along with.
I'm pretty fed up with this place. There's a lot of pettiness. Nastiness has been directed at me here recently which is so ridiculous. I have no idea what the calculation is behind it. But it bloody hurts.
Despite real life struggles I don't know anyone who treats me like that.
Can't taste food and sleep hard to come by. But hell what am I whining about? I've got good honest down to earth cricket.

The Indians have just started their first innings and already one down. England earlier 221.
Vic Marks just said the forecast for tomorrow is good. Aggers said, 'Is that sunny good or cloudy good? If you're an England supporter obviously you want cloudy good.'
The ball swings in cloudy conditions. Swing means wickets..and in Jimmy Anderson, we have the best swing bowler in the world.

But cricket *is* a weird sport! Aren't people supposed to make fun of it?
Actually, I'd probably love to see a game with a cricket enthusiast, who would be patient enough to explain me (a) the rules, and more importantly (b) when someone played well and why.
Have fun! (Ah, judging by the time, the game might be over already )

How could the game be over. Test matches go on for a maximum of 5 days. Except once there was a 'timeless test' between England and South Africa because the series was drawn at that point. After 9 days there was still no result and England had to leave to get the boat home.
Test cricket in my opinion is the greatest of all sports. It combines the most amazing subtleties of psycholgy..and some less so with full on agrression.
If I ever came back in another life...I wouldn't mind being a demon fast bowler.
I think you'd love the complexities if you really got into it. It takes at least a lifetime.

The game? I must have meant the match.
The way you speak about cricket makes me curious about it. It is good to have a subtle psychological aspect and a, um, less subtle one
Watching a sport with someone who likes it is always better. That's how I started being interested in and going out in oubs to watch it. Even though I'm still not a fan (not a proper one anyway), the cheering and all is just contagious.

There's a whole field of knowledge just to do with 'sledging'. That's the kind of stuff the close fielders and wicket keeper will be saying to the batsman to intimidate them.
The Umpire will mostly be turning a blind eye to that..unless it gets really out of hand.
Key: Complain about this post
