Hi Ottox. My name is Kumetanzuka, and I was referred to your place by St Dragonfly. I like your page, and I should like to explore if further in the future. The reason, however, that I am posting this to you now is to ask if you would be interested in joining a project of mine. Dragonfly said you were good with language(s) other than English - Danish, by the look of your page - and that is exactly what I'm looking for. You may or may not have seen ads and postings in various places on h2g2 about The Terran Embassy to h2g2 ( www.h2g2.com/A447040 ). I would like one of the main focus points of the embassy to be a multi-lingual center, where people who don't necessarily speak English can go to get language- and community-support.
If you'd like to see what the embassy's about, visit the link above. You can leave a message at my page, or at [email protected] of you have any comments, questions, suggestions.
Also, if you know of anyone else who might be interested, please let me know!
Thanks,
Lady K

Hi Kumetan... Lady K!
I like your ideas, and will help you in any way I can, but at the moment I'm quite busy RL, so let me get back to you in (hopefully) a few days...

OK, I hope I have more time on h2g2 now, so I'm ready to work! Just haven't got much of an idea what to do...
What help do you need at the embassy?

Well, first of all, last time I checked, the GuideML clinic seemed to be somewhat out of commission, so, not knowing most tags off by heart, I am kinda limited in design strategies. If you're good with GuideML, that would be a BIG help.
I asked Kasia this, and I'll ask your opinion too: Do you think it a good idea to make the embassy a separate user, to which all 'employees' would have access? And perhaps make a mailing list with the email address used for the Embassy user?
And, when the embassy is up and running of course, it will need language support. I'd like to make a page or section in all languages used commonly on H2G2.
But first things first; designing and architecture!

I think it's a good idea to U-number the embassy (I did that myself with the h2g2 Choral Society http://www.h2g2.com/U153792) - we just have to be careful not to mess things up for each other!
A mailing list is another good idea!
I think I know most of what there is to know of GuideML. And HTML and some Java if necessary...

Excellent! I will give the Embassy a U-number right away, and just copy and paste the information into the User page. Actually, what I think I'll do, is keep the User page for the Embassy's administrative use (something like what the Archangels have I think, sort of) and then add another guide entry which will be the actual embassy.
About the GuideML and HTML, excellent! And since I know NOTHING about Java except that it allows for some really cool stuff, I guess I've come to the right person! If you want to visit the current embassy page http://www.h2g2.com/A447040 , I have placed all of the info I plan to included as a second set of Embassy blueprints at the bottom of the page (below the Government section). I was planning on working on the Tourism Bureau next, so if you have any suggestions for organization, format, GuideML usage... please feel free to suggest.
Soon, I will send the new User information.
Thanks

The userpage is set up I see. It's a very good idea to use it for administration only.
You've found a lot of links I must say!!! , but that's just fine. I'll have to go to bed soon, but I'm back tomorrow night and have got time in the weekend, so see you soon!

Yes indeed - oh! If you will post your email address, I will send you the login/email info for the Embassy. Have a good sleep - talk to you soon.

As it's already on my space, it's ok to post it here too, I think.

If that address bounces, let me know and you'll have another.
(It shouldn't, but sometimes it does... )
