Haven't we been chatting already about longelivity, testosterone and sex? I'm glad you finally took off your pillowcase, and keep showing off. I'm like Jamie Lee Curtis in the film "A fish called wanda", I start drooling at the sound of foreign languages, they turn me on. Je prefer de parler en espanol, puis-que je n'ais pas encore perfectioner le pensee en espanol. Ca c'est le vrais epruve. Si on peut pensee y reve en la langue, c'est que on vive la langue et on ne la perderait jamais. As for Afrikaans, very close to Dutch, and not to be confused with German. Both of which I don't know from whatever, although I can recognize them when spoken.
I understand good things have been happening down there in South Africa and I would love to experience the beauty of your country. Especially the flowers and fauna found no where else in the world. I admire your love of languages.
I have spoken with a fellow from New Zeland,I'll have to look up his space and code name for you on the h2g2 and get back to you on this.
Can you update me on what is going on with the various tribes there. I read Mitchner's book, about the Boar wars, etc. and was just wondering how the various native tribes are holding up in the political arena now that Aparthiad has been banned. Is everyone getting along?

The issue of the "stolen generation" of aborigine children is getting BiG PRESS here is the states, Telejournal articles of families of siblings being reunited after so many long years of deprograming and being adopted out into white families. The great gesture of an aborigine athlete lighting the torch seems to be all the Aussie govt is going to offer in the way of acknowlegement.
I see you are online and will try to head to your space to see if I can catch you.

Sorry I didn't catch you JLC, I was busy chatting to someone else. I'll reply more tomorrow, but just a quick question - how is the media presenting the issue? Is it being taken seriously? How is it represented vis a vis the public stance as opposed to the political stance? Must fly, but as I said I'll be around tomorrow.....
btw, I'm the Great Old One.......Cthulhu Fhtagn!

dearest Case,
thanks for all the facinating info on the nations, and the animals too. I was especially enthralled with the plants, there is an essencial oil of carrot, which is used in cosmetics and is great for the skin but I am unable to find out much about it. I wonder if it is from your carrot plant, rather than the rooted one we eat here as veggie. Also, the parsley, it's essential oil is known for purification purposes, detoxification. I can't find anything about it either??? Is it from your exotic plant in SA as well? Just musing, as I am starting back into my aromatherapeutic massage practice soon and am going about getting my oils together.
As for how the public presentation of the plight of the aboriginal lost generation, here in the states, they have done mini-news documentaries about how sad and unfair the govt. has treated these indigenous people. Things like "Dateline" with Dan Rather, and they throughly take the point of view from the torn souls of the Inner Child who is left wondering who he really is and seeking out his/her true family. They go so far as to say that many of these children don't even know they are among the lost generation, they were taken as infants and have no way of knowing who or to what nation they belong, much less their true parentage. Sadness surrounds the subject.
The crisis of Aids in Africa is very much known, however, what you say is true....there is a sense of APATHY that pervades and haunts the continent of Africa on all subjects of conservation, of life. We hear more about the destruction of medicinal plants in slash and burn agricultural encroachment in the Amazon than anything about Africa.
Got to Go,

The Unmentionable Marauding Pillowcase Posted Sep 20, 2000
Hi again! No, I seriously doubt whether the oils you are talking about could come from these plants. They are quite thoroughly unknown and unstudied, even in this country. I am sure they have some oils of their own, all plants have thousands if not millions of chemical compounds in them, but the chance of anybody at this time knowing about these trees, especially in the US, is very very very slim. Those oils you mention must come from actual garden carrots and parsley. Even well-known plants are still only RELATIVELY well known and contain compounds just recently discovered to be valuable, and many that have not yet been discovered. In South Africa tens of thousands of plants have numerous medicinal uses among traditional healers, but ONLY ONE has yet been thoroughly scientifically tested and analysed - buchu, a small shrub in the citrus family.
I like your calling these plants "exotic". This is of course a relative term. Over here pine trees and oak trees are "exotic"; carrot trees and parsley trees are indigenous, "ordinary", they grow on the hills on their own, they don't have to be imported and planted.
Aids in Africa ... what a dilemma. I'll talk about it on my user page; it's a thorny problem allright.
Love, Peace and Harmony.
Case.
