Hi Vip. Long time no... er... whatever this is.

Also, yes, I remember you Orcus, your wheelbarrow entry was one of the things that got me into the place, that and the sadly deleted "Live Monkey Brains" SWL entry.

Holy cow, now this is no-longer beeb territory... can we have Live Monkey Brains?

Good point -you should prompt SWL for that I guess.

I wish I could take full credit for the wheelbarrow entry but I think that was a collaborative one iirc.

I have a feeling Monkey Brains is in a perpetual state of being not-quite-accepted. Probably best not to touch the subject with a barge pole. I hope I'm wrong though.

Yeah, I went and stuck my drunken oar in on the monkey brains again. Probably counter productive.

Hi psychocandy. smiley - smiley How are you?

Hey, guess what; I'm at film school now. I'm just finishing off a short film about a serial killer, it turns out he's been killing house hold appliances though, and is just very mixed up. I've been directing an actor to do unspeakable things to a coke machine, a hoover, a cd player and a toaster. All very odd experiences.

I'm doing well, a-a-e. I have changed jobs and moved to a new apartment since last I saw you. The job's not necessarily an improvement, but it's not always awful; the new place is much bigger and was newly rehabbed before we moved in, so things are shiny and new yet. I've also taken on a couple of challenging and exciting volunteer roles for h2g2 since it was purchased from the BBC.

Film school sounds very exciting! I always enjoyed talking about films with you, and now we can talk about yours!! smiley - magic Will I get to see this serial killer doing unspeakable things to household appliances? I used to have a clothes dryer that could have used that treatment, instead we left it at the old apartment to die of natural causes.

I admit to knowing nobody - I mean what do we mean by knowing? Anyway you can access SWL's live monkey brains article via a link on his personal space - it appears to be one of three articles in a state of non-acceptance, that can be found after the long list of his accepted entries smiley - cheers

Sure, I'll probably put it on vimeo when it's done. I'm working on the sound at the mo, I need to dub bits of it due to sound recordist messing up. smiley - erm

That was a pretty existentialist opening there Stone Aart. I think anyway, bit vague on that kind of thing. Well, I will content myself with the Ghost Chicken of Highgate entry.

Pretty much everything after 98 has been a bit weird for me. Esp since I did that thing where you remind yourself the year has gone forward twice in 2002... or was it 2001. I didn't figure out I was a year ahead until my birthday loomed up in october. Not been quite sure how old I am since then.

I remember you very fondly. Although I did think you were some kind of dadaist bot for a while. I put a bunch of your weirder posts in to a text-to-speech engine, scrambled it up and made a track out if. smiley - blush Monkey drums. I can't remember where I saved it. I do have it some where.

It said mmmmmm esckarbibulator or something in a very pleasing manner.

2legs - Hey, babe, take a walk on the wild side...

Oh... that sounds very cool... I'd like to hear that, I occasionally rearrange notes into the wrong order, reverse them, and change their flavour to the opposite sort, myself, and then put an out of date drum beat to it... just for fun mind... my fun mainly, everyone elses horror smiley - zensmiley - musicalnotesmiley - vampire

dadaist... bout right in some respects.... Only I don't do exploding robots anymore, not since what they did last time to my dwarves and chinchillas.... took forever to clean up after that smiley - dohsmiley - zen

Actually... talkign about music... I must actually pick my guitar up some time soon... or one of them anyhow... I can't have played since ... some time the end of last summer smiley - dohsmiley - musicalnote

2002? I thought the year went fowards twice in 1999 or 2000? sort of round the time I was at university I think... smiley - weirdsmiley - boing

I am all about out of date drum beats. Sent you that track.

Have you heard the Azealia Banks track '212'? It's very rude.

It was definitely 2001 or 2 that the year went forwards twice. I remember not remembering it distinctly.

Actually I must get roudn to putting more of my music up on my website, don't think I've even changed a thing on that website now for a couple of years smiley - dohsmiley - run

I wish I had some proper massive speakers. My monitors are fairly punchy but not able to vibrate a curiously cuboid paper snowman in anywhere near a satisfactory manner. smiley - sadface

Post 19

2legs - Hey, babe, take a walk on the wild side...

I've a very cool, I think, massive pair of alesis active monitors, for the PC; But the active bit of them keeps breaking, in one unit... and I can't get the damn things fixed; I have a long-term (I.E., I just never get round to it), project, to dig them out of teh loft, and turn them into a pair of passive speakers, such a shame to lose the active electronics (in the one working speaker anyhow), but otherwise they're just gone to waste sitting in their boxes unused in the loft smiley - cry
AT the moment, in the studeo, I've a 1980's Pioneer hifi amp (actually rather decent even when side by side compaired to my Arcam), with a pair of 1970's origional KLH (or is it KHL? I always get muddled up), HiFi mid sized speakers (I can't fit anything else in there as the HiFi speakers which are bigger, are way to tall, unlike the more cuboid Alesis)... I did have my late 1960's Celestions in the studeo setup, but there awaiting my attention to build some new fronts for them smiley - doh
In the bedroom HiFi at the moment (arcam amp, morantx CD and turntable and Graham Slee turntable preamp), I've got my Mordaunt Short Avant 900i speakers, which I bought new a few years ago... not massive cones, and not as basy as my other big speakers, but some serious definition and sound-scaping and clarity, less good for rock and electronic music really, mind, then I've got my big set of Quadrils, which I bought second hand from a friend, they've got way more bass than the MS, though, actually, out of all of them, I probably prefer the Celestions... they're just so musical, and have more than enough bass relaly... well, the alesis are the best, if they worked, for the studeo stuff... smiley - wah

Mind, I've a set of hand built massive speakers (18 or 24 inch cones I think), which will be coming here soon at some point... and I'm still trying to see if I can arrange purchase of a not being used set of old BBC studeo monitors, taht I know of, a friend has them, and doesn't use them... SAdly he may know how much they're worth, which is more than I can afford smiley - wahsmiley - erm

Mind... surely it must reach a point when I cannot physically have any more speakers in the house.... as it is I kind of have a six-montly rotation of them and move sets about, and take the spare set or two out of the cupbaords, and swap them for the others smiley - laughsmiley - erm Mind... I could probably say the same about guitars... I think
*counts*
there are about 10 guitars in the lfot at any point in time smiley - snorksmiley - musicalnote

Some kind of bloody server problem just wiped my amazingly long and witty post detailing all the speakers and stuff I've ever owned.smiley - wah

Your house sounds cool. My monitors are the alesis passive ones. Good for 808 kicks.smiley - ok
