Hi WN,

Nowt wrong with a bit of 'me time' smiley - biggrin

We've had snow all morning, but it doesn't seem to be sticking - eldest daughter rang earlier, and said it must be the wrong type of snow! smiley - rofl

Enjoy your smiley - ale

Hi lilsmiley - smiley, your eldest daughter not wrong, there are many different types of precipitation and that includes snow. My girlfriend isn’t happy unless the snow flakes that fall are all of the big fluffy type, the size of fifty pence pieces; any other type to her just isn’t snow.
The snowsmiley - snowball drifts we’ve had around us are made up of much finer snow flakes, as I was twittering on to my girlfriendsmiley - yawn in the car, as I do, get me on the weather and I’m liken to a kid with a new toy.smiley - laugh
I’ve had a early start today after a good nights kip, made a cup ofsmiley - teafor the girlfriend before she goes to work, had our usual chat in the conservatory whilst watching the old dickie birds on our feeders.
I’ve had my fix of looking at all the weather satellites for the day , not to say I wont have a nosey later on , as you dosmiley - laugh.
Its injection day today, so it will be the mandatory visit to the local afterwardssmiley - cheers

Morning WN.

Good to know you managed a decent night's sleep smiley - hug

As for the birds, I don't think they have ever been fed in this garden. We have a lot of magpies flying about, and have seen them perching in our guttering, so I don't expect many small birds stay around for long smiley - shrug

Dad moved into a bungalow just behind us, I can see his roof from our garden! He's a keen bird watcher, so we will see how he fairs when he begins feeding them smiley - ok

Injections??? Nasty, nasty! Take care love smiley - smooch

Hi lil smiley - biggrin

Presently enjoying a late nightcapsmiley - cheers

You mentioned feeding birds, its one of those things that grabs you, you find a kind a calmsmiley - zen by watching them feed, my girlfriend shriekssmiley - yikes when something new pops along.
The magpies are a nuisancesmiley - grr, we thought at one point of buying a humane trap to catch them as they were killing and taunting all the birds we had encouraged into the garden, until we found out the price of them.
No doubt your dad will have them flocking in shortly and it must be nice for you to have your dad so close.
This weekend up in the airsmiley - somersault; Friday is largely spoken for with family matters and more domestic choirs.
We were wanting to go away over night but given our local dog kennels have closed down we have no where to place thesmiley - dog so going away for a night or two is now out of the question, we’ve tried looking at dog friendly places but the choice is limited and not really in our destination area, plus if I’m to be honest, having the girlfriends smiley - dog, yapping for attention 24/7 does not appeal at the mo.
So irrespective of the old back, a day trip to the seaside will dosmiley - magic
Hope your Easter break goes smiley - ok.

At his other house, Dad was surrounded by woodlands, including fruit trees in his garden, which attracted lots of birds.

Robins, smiley - titsmiley - tit, great and blue... smiley - biggrin Blackbirds, Thrushes.

He's even had a woodpecker trying to get into his feedboxes, which were stained UPVC! smiley - laugh

While we had our kitchen refitted, we put Aly Cat into the cattery for 4 days. She's back home now, and demanding LOTS of attention!! smiley - biggrin

Have a good Easter weekend, hunny smiley - smooch

Hi lil. smiley - smiley

I’m up at the usual time, 2am, body normal needs some TLC and pain killers at this time, and then it’s in to the office next to the bedroom to potter around. Heaters on, got myself a lovely cup of coffee and a small brandysmiley - cheers.
The old computers running slow but that doesn’t really bother me as I’m not really in that fast frame of mind at the mosmiley - laugh
Your dads previous set up seemed idyllic, epically if as you say he loves his birdssmiley - tit.
Talking of bird boxes, my girlfriend has just revamped her late dads, I took them down, took them apart and sanded them down for her, and she then lovingly stained them.
There now back in place and look lovely, she was well excited last year as one boxes had a family ofsmiley - tit’s nesting in itsmiley - magic
Splodge our feralsmiley - catis the opposite, she will grant you the odd audience every so often as she largely keeps herself to herself, mainly in the chalet I built for her.
We’ve decided Sunday and Monday as being our outing days, so today we will potter around.
Hope you enjoy the weekend

Morning WN smiley - biggrin

Oh, I remember those days, and nights, when I was governed by painkillers and the inability to sleep more than a couple of hours at a time. Thankfully I only need them intermittently since my last operation on my neck about 5 years ago. So you have my full sympathy smiley - hug

Dad loved his old home. Unfortunately, he was having problems getting around. He had a stairlift, but the slight steps from the front and back doors was causing him problems. It was time to sell up and move into a bungalow. He seems to be settling in well, and once the Spring comes properly he will start to potter around the garden, driving my brother up the wall!! smiley - laugh

I don't think we will be doing much over the weekend. The kitchen needs a good cleaning down, even if it is only a temporary job until the plastering has been done. Still keeping boxes of food in the living room as it's not worth putting them away just yet smiley - shrug

Whatever you decide, stay safe and have a good time! smiley - ok

Hi lilsmiley - smiley

It’s early for me, not even gone past midnight, mind I did go to bed a tad early tonight.
I have this strange affliction, that at a certain time toward the evening, it wants to put me to sleep, just after 6pm today.
I noticed it creeping up on me last year, I was finding it harder to say awake after eating and was retiring to bed earlier on a evening, regardless as to how sunny or warm it was, as we always relaxed on the patio and both enjoyed talking late into the night.
The sunshine today through me, its been so cold and over cast recently that this evening was the first time in quite a while when it was sunny in the evening, I mentioned to the girlfriend before I nodded offsmiley - yawn how I’m going to have to work on staying awake, especially as the clocks will give us additional daylight hours tomorrow eveningsmiley - yikes.

I gave the builder two weeks to do our kitchen, time management is one of my things and my OCD makes me highly attentive to detail.
I told my girlfriend when I met her of all my habitssmiley - weird so that nothing later on could take her by surprise, honesty is everything to me in a relationship, were still together so it paid offsmiley - laugh
I remember all the units were stacked up in the dinning room and the lounge, as liken to you had all the food and bits and pieces you would most probably need on a day by day basis.
It was such a joy when we eventually got everything back in place, so you do have my sympathies too.

Got the waterproof back board for our garden mirror today, it’s a tad on the large size, its to go at the far end of the garden, partial behind some plants, it will give the illusion of a secret garden hopefully.
Plus it will reflex light back and help illuminate the patio in the morning.
The mirror we had cut and delivered from a specialist supplier of acrylic mirrors, it’s presently laid on the floor in the lounge, so this will be my project for next week, back permitting.

Anyway, weather looks good for tomorrow so if you get some sunshine where you are, enjoy it.

Hi WN,

I had a good sleep last night. Went to bed about 11.30pm and woke at 7.30am BST... smiley - magic

We had Hubby's sister and brother in law round last night to have a nosy at the kitchen. As it was our 25th anniversary at the beginning of the week, we had an impromptu party! smiley - biggrin

A couple of bottles of smiley - winekey, some sandwiches and sausage rolls, and a we had a pleasant couple of hours chatting!

I do like the idea of the garden mirror. They make any corner of the garden look a lot bigger smiley - ok

You will have to let me know if you manage the desired effect.

Hi lilsmiley - smiley

Now’t wrong with an impromptu party! smiley - magic, those unexpected gatherings can turn out to be quite memorable and there’s none of this, what shall we give themsmiley - doh? When they turn up scenario before hand.

Twenty five years hey! Congratulations and well done you twosmiley - hugsmiley - smiley

Well it was the girlfriends turn yesterday to decide where we went on our day trip in the car, Ingelton and many places like it, she dragged me around.
Must admit I was a bit of a grumpy bumsmiley - grr, some of these places could do with a lick of paint, the drive was very pleasant, open roads and lots to see.
She kept on crying out, I’ve climbed that with my dad (near on ever mountain we came across), been there, camped theresmiley - laugh

I must admit she liked her walking when she was youngersmiley - run

I recovered half way around with a stonking pint of Stellasmiley - magic in some medieval pub with a roaring fire, that’s after we’d walked miles to see a remote waterfall.

Seaside tomorrow, early start, tide should be going out so we can roam the shoreline for shells and I m taking my hammer to crack a few stones, see what fossils we can find.

Have a good day today.

WN, I might be offline for a little while, please keep posting here if you feel like it. I will catch up as soon as I can.

We are having the outside walls removed and re-insulated, this might interrupt the broadband for a while. I won't be able to say when this will happen, but it will be during the next week or so smiley - ok

You take care. I shall keep looking in when I can smiley - hug

We went to the seasidesmiley - magic, spending an hour or so collecting pebbles, shells etc.
Went to Robin hoods Bay, it smiley - snowballsmiley - snowball whilst we were on the beach but that didn’t spoil our fun, was smiley - brr though

Having your out side walls removed hmmm, make sure they only take one down at the timesmiley - laugh; these builders can be a tadsmiley - silly

Hoping for a more productive day today, as yesterday came with pay back for all the walking around I’ve been doing over the last few days.

Looking forward to the change in the weather, wont be for another 10 days mind but it’s on its way at last, we’ve still got smiley - snowballsmiley - snowball on the ground in the garden.

Anyway keep an eye on those builderssmiley - winkeye

Hi lilsmiley - smiley

Got my glossing finished on Wednesday, it was one of those days when I really had to push myself.

Looking at starting the mirror project today, staining the backboard is going to be the hardest thing. Too big to do in the house and its smiley - brr outside and that will reduce the drying time, given the amount of coats I wish to apply to it, so as to protect it.

Was looking at some photos taken of the gardens this time last year, we are so far behind due to thesmiley - snowballsmiley - snowball

Hope all is going smiley - okwith the build

Hi lilsmiley - smiley

Managed to get it started, spent Thursday morning sanding, drilling and staining the back board for our mirror, its hung in the garage now, was dry when I last checked on it so I can hopefully glue the mirror to it and hang it on the fence today.

That’s if I’m up to it, I was woken tonight, not in the nicest of wayssmiley - grr, comes with pushing myself.

Trust you still have enough walls to keep your roof onsmiley - laugh

Morning WN,

Sorry you have been woken in a rough way smiley - hug

The insulators will be here in earnest this morning... cutting away the outer walls smiley - rolleyes

Let's just hope the don't cut the cable for the broadband by mistake! smiley - yikes

The kitchen only needs cleaning, tiling and painting to finish it off!smiley - puff

I've seen garden mirrors and am intrigued by them. Your hard work should be well rewarded this summer smiley - ok

Take the next few days easily smiley - cuddle

Hi lilsmiley - smiley

Ho dear, poor old telephone cablesmiley - wah, you could only just give them some slack if it had been a sunken cable, even then, with these modern traces there should be no way they hit a cable or pipe if they’ve thoughtsmiley - doh about where they were going first, hmm builders thinkingsmiley - huh, that would be a first.

Hope your connected back upsmiley - smiley

Mirror hung, all 6 foot 6 by 4 foot 6 of it (no smiley to best convey my reaction).

The concept of having it, as I sold it to my girlfriendsmiley - hug,was that it would give the illusion of a secret gardensmiley - magic, we now have a secret garagesmiley - cdoublesmiley - blush, as that is what it is reflectingsmiley - erm, as viewed from the primary spot, the kitchen window that looks out onto the garden
smiley - dontpanic came to mind as I walkedsmiley - footprintssmiley - footprints my girlfriend around the garden, I think it will grow on her, as it does produce some good effects as viewed from various angles, just not the one I wanted it to.

Other considerations, should you decided to install one, they need to be extremely flat, any slight variation will result in a distorted image.
Our is not badsmiley - wow, I read up on them and read the reviews; the hall of mirrors at the seaside comes to mind if there not glued down flat.

Other than that, I installed a warm water feed to the drive so that my girlfriend can shampoo her smiley - dog, outside, after he’s got muddied up from his walks.

I’ve dry pointed the paving to the front of the house and repaired the sides of the drive.

We went shopping on Saturday and bought lots of new herbaceous plants for the garden, so Sunday we will be pottering about hopefully in some sunshine

Hope your weekend is a good one too

Hi WN,

Sorry your garden mirror didn't 'quite' work the way you intended, but that secret garage could be very useful in the future smiley - winkeye

All the work on the bungalow was going very well... until today smiley - doh

The insulators said they would stay away today because the door fitters were coming in. I got a phone call (phone wires still work!) this morning, the doors are not ready yet, and they won't be coming here until tomorrow... Contacted the insulators and I am now waiting to see if they will still be coming tomorrow or not smiley - huh

I think I will need a holiday before the tiler and decorator come in! smiley - headhurts

Take care, hunny smiley - hug
