PS... The Barlesque system (the one with the Dolphins) can be a little glitchy, you might like to use: http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/brunel/U14973521 instead smiley - smiley

Thank you Lil,

I quite like Barlesque from what I've seen of it. Personally I never liked brunel, I was always a classic goo kinda girl - but then again that was because it was what I used originally, back in the day when we were still using html instead of guideml - all of which I will probably now have forgotten!

I shall keep my fingers crossed that the techs can get me back to my old page, it would be really nice to get to keep my guide entries.

It's funny, when I was here before I was an ACE and a Guru and an editor and a bunch of thing...so I would do a lot of welcome messages, I always enjoyed it because the people on h2g2 was always so nice and it felt like being properly part of a community (before myspace and facebook etc took over the world).

Thank you again for all the info you left and for helping me out.

Emily

You can still get into Goo, if you really want to smiley - yuk

If you are staying in barleyskew, you need to remember not to use apostrophes, they bring up a load of code ' inside the words smiley - rolleyes

Get yourself settled in, and maybe you could volunteer once again when you have found your feet smiley - magic

Don't use apostrophes...could be tricky, but I'll try smiley - winkeye

I do like the white, it's much cleaner looking. I've definitely become a less is more kind of girl when it comes to design formatting. But I'm a designer now, that's kinda to be expected.

I'll certainly consider volunteering again once I get back into things.

Is Pastey an advocate of the less is more design then?

And dolphins! Are lot of people finding the new skin a little stark for h2g2?

Then again, if they're finding this stark they should see how they just update the blogger interface! Talk about snow blindness! smiley - laugh You needed sunglasses just to look at it!

Actually we were all looking forward to using it, but it had so many glitches and problems it was impossible to use it for long.

They never did get around to sort it out for the ACE's. We've always had to use our old skins to greet, because we couldn't get to the Newbie List in the new one smiley - rolleyes

Pastey is just waiting to get his hands on it!! It has to be a smiley - geek thing!

Personally, I am renowned for breaking anything Techie smiley - blush

My sister's like that, as a family we've decided that she's magnetic, because she has a tendency to kill anything tech based she comes across smiley - winkeye She's had at least a couple of exploding computers.

I had noticed the lack of currently online list in this mode, I figured it had just been phased out over the last few years. I only noticed it was still there when I got nostalgic for classic goo and I have to say, I'm totally shocked at how outdated it looks now!

I'm sure Pastey will have fun tweaking it all. I'm trying to redesign the website at work at the moment and have a few blogs. The best bit is always after the basics are there, glitches have been all but worked out and you just get to fiddle around with the fun stuff. I mean it also drives you mad, but it's somehow hypnotic.

Just so you know, I do blame h2g2 for my smiley - geek geekiness when it comes to html! I was a impressionable 15 years old at the time, so the smiley - geek in me is now deep seated...in fact, I'm sure I have those glasses!

Because of my disability, Hubby does most of the shopping and doesn't have any problems. On the rare occasions I accompany him you are guaranteed the till goes offline in the queue we are in smiley - rolleyes

Electrical stores are the worst. I don't even need to at the tills for them to breakdown smiley - erm

Pastey is chomping at the bit to get his hands on the barleyskew coding! Sorry you didn't enjoy your look down memory lane in Goo smiley - hug. And that Who's Online feature has been broken in all skins since the BBC began closing out their messageboards last autumn.

Contact Pastey, he will need everyone he can get to help with the codes smiley - ok

Same happens with my sister, I go to the shop on my own and have no problems, Louise comes with me and the till we go to always goes mental. Then again, I took the car for its MOT on Friday and went into town while it was being done. I managed to set a shop alarm off on the way in, and I don't know who was more embarrassed, me or the poor shop boy who had to search my bag. I think probably him.

smiley - hug Goo wasn't so bad, it's just funny how dated it looks now given - in 2000 - it looks so cool. That said, in 2000 I was probably still wearing boot leg jeans with ribbons and butterflies sewn on them and trainers with a distinct platform. smiley - yikes

smiley - okI'll drop Pastey a line if I have some free time.

Hope you had a nice weekend!

A couple of years back, Hubby and I had been into a major clothes store and bought a number of items. Firstly the till needed resetting by a supervisor (twice) and then the alarms went off as we were leaving the store.

We went back to the till, had everything checked for hidden tags (none) and tried again. Still no go! After checking everything a third time we asked the store detective to take it through, and it still went off. There was a hidden tag inside the box containing a bra. I had visions of us being frisked smiley - shrug

I'm sure Pastey won't mind your attire. I think he's in a bit of a time-warp himself smiley - winkeye

We had a lovely weekend, watching smiley - biker racing on the telly smiley - biggrin

smiley - laugh And no body enjoys being frisked in the middle of a shop!

I think it's actually more embarrassing when you know you're definitely innocent of any crime. Then again, I should have known better than to go into that particular Gap store. I had a bag a few years ago, which it didn't matter what I did, whether I'd been into other shops already so had bags or indeed nothing but my phone and wallet, it always set the alarm off going in and not out of the shop.

Haha, nothing wrong with being in a time warp, fortunately I think I've gained a little more style in the past ten years...if not I'm in serious trouble! Then again, this is the internet, I could be wearing a bunny costume right now and no one would be any the wiser.

Sounds like you had a nice relaxing weekend, at home we've had an interesting one. Our oven's dying, the thermostat keeps tripping the house circuit and so I spent a lot of this weekend running to the fuse box to get the electricity back on and cleaning up after my dad who was making sure that it definitely was the oven...and then our vacuum died yesterday. Bad luck comes in threes, so fortunately the vacuum was no.3, so I'm hoping that's it.

Touch wood!
