Hi,
Did you know that Greebo (bless her) is running a Christmas Poem competition in The Post? I sent her one, and toyed with the idea of trying to keep you away from it....... but that's mean, and I'm pretty sure you have written something that would really be worth reading (not like mine which is fairly pathetic!).
Anyway, there you are, do you think you'd do it?
Love your poems, by the way, where else can I see them (ie. Are there any more?)
bye

Hi Sho,

Thanks for telling me. No I didn't know about the poem comp, and no I don't already have one written. I have only been writing for a few months.

And don't for a minute imagine that you could not write a better poem than I can, There is nothing to say that I'm going to produce anything that is worth considering anyway smiley - smiley

The only place where all my poems are, are on a red 3 1/4 disc, that every time I want to look at them or add to them or put one somewhere I call out to my husband "where are my poems" and he dutifully finds them. But I am thinking about setting up a web page that I can put them on then I can have a link to them, and life wont be devastating if I loose my red disc or the puter gets in a bad mood and chews it up like it has done with other discs.

Hope to see you again soon

Good Morning,

Ah a husband who knows what a disk looks like instead of saying "so, why don't you geeky types call it a rectangle if you're all so clever?" (he thinks anyone who knows how to switch on a PC is a geek, btw, which includes my 3 year old!)

I wrote my poem when I was 10, and have never ever written anything since. But I like it, and it's a shame to have it sitting there never seeing the light of day....

Let me know if you make a website though, I'll come & have a look.

Hi Sho,

When I make the website I hope to be clever enough to put in links so I will have a link to my Poetry page.

It might be a little while I am in the process of selling my business at the moment and I don't have the time to put the thought into how I want it to look yet.

I looked for information on the Christmas poems but didn't find any?

Where is it talked about and where have you posted yours?

I have thought about it a little but I have not got one formed yet.

smiley - smiley My husband knows about puters but he knows very little about websites, so as I am experiencing making one I am learning tons more than he knows, Its nice to be the one who is best at something. smiley - smiley

see ya again soon

Hi Moondancer (great name, btw)

maybe I'll get the link right here, for The Post, http://www.h2g2.com/thepost there is a column on the right for the Christmas Poetry thing, and the poems are there (3 so far). Mine is, true to form, the most pathetic!!! but I like it, and that's what counts for me smiley - smiley

Hope everything goes well with selling the business, are you going to start a new one? Or will you join the rat race (like me smiley - sadface ) or have you really cool plans....? (sorry, nosey, aren't I?)

I'm at work right now and I need a file from my computer at home. Can I explain it to the dear old man? (who, to be fair, is trying to shovel breakfast down a 3 year old and a 2 year old, feed the cats and vac the spiders off the ceiling before they all go to playgroup), Can I heck as like!! Worse is that we only have one phone line, so I can't talk him through it. Pah. But we have a solution, he's babysitting twice a week for a friend who runs her own computer school. So she's paying him with computer lessons. Maybe he can teach me something! (self-taught)

love

Ha Sho,

I think you poem is good, and besides you really only have to please your self.

Nothing wrong with self-taught, I learned by helping my son do his assignments, he had terrible handwriting so we went on to the puter and once on there - the sky is the limit. smiley - smiley.

When I am out of the business I hope to have a bit of time off, and the girls at school are doing philosophy this year, I would not mind a bit of time with some old Greeks, don't ask Walter about Greeks and me, he thinks we are seditious (I think that is the word, up to no good)but I only do it to tease him smiley - smiley.

I don't know where to find all the different faces and symbols since they took them off the entrance page, but if you look around you might find them. Other wise just try it with a word between pointed brackets and you my be lucky smiley - smiley.

Thanks, Moondancer.

Actually that poem was in the 4th year junior (so I was 10 or 11) and it was my first ever homework. And with it I set the pattern for the rest of my school career: I didn't do it! I scribbled it while the others were standing up reading theirs out! And, lo, I was chosen to read mine at the school carol service that year!

My elder daughter is learning how to use my PC (she's very nearly 4). She can log on (sort of, if I type in the password) and find the Bob the Builder website (do you know him, it's for pre-school kids) and snoopy.com. It's costing me a fortune. smiley - smiley

Well, you know I will ask Walter about you and the Greeks! Seditious suits me, I like a bit of controversy too! I wish I had the time for school, but well - the littlies are still very small and I shouldn't be wishing that away.... when they're grumpy teenagers and live in their bedrooms (or boy's bedrooms) I'll have time for study.

I've gone right off the entrance page, hardly look there now smiley - sadface but still, finding things are pretty easy here)

I'll try some pictures soon, when I'm brave enough smiley - hugsmiley - choc

Hi Sho,

I have not seen Walter for ages, he must be very busy, or may be he doesn't love us anymore smiley - sadface

I don't know about bob the builder, when my boys started primary school I helped to work to get the first puter in the school for the students use. Then it wasn't the internet it was mostly just writing stories they used it for. and we had a maths game on a disc which was really good.

I see you found the chocolate, I hadn't been to the front page either except that when we got the upgrade they put front page where my page use to be and I would hit it occasionally and that is where I read about the new smiley faces. But I cant find them anymore.

I told Walter I wanted a Greek slave to massage my feet, and he said that my sleazy slave would go further than the feet .

I have got my husbands work Christmas party tomorrow evening, and I bought my self a pink silky cardigan, It was a really good buy, so I tried it on this morning with my satin skirt, looks best with no top plenty of cleavage. So I am really pleased with that.

I didn't get back to school till late, I started doing year11 when my eldest was in year10. Since then I have done 5, year12 subjects, Year12 being the last year before university. I am not quite ready for the university step. To go there I feel you need to have a reason not just for the sake of learning.

Got to go customers are calling

Guten Tag!

I've had a few days off and I feel great. Until I saw my desk that is..... smiley - sadface ho hum. Still, tonight is our company Christmas dinner at a very nice, posh, expensive Chinese place, so that should be good. Spouses too - which isn't normal in this country, still, there are only 8 of us here, so it will make for a good number. So, how did yours go - slinky pink cardi notwithstanding? smiley - smiley

I'm pretty sure Walter still loves us. It must take him quite a while to recover from my posts since, for some reason, I'm induced to send him reams and reams of waffle. Poor chap!

Perhaps you could lend me your Slave for a foot massage - just what the doctor ordered. smiley - laugh

I'm getting very confused with the education system. When I was at school we left at the end of the Upper Sixth. Which is, I believe, year 12. So when people tell me about year blah, or grade blah, I have to count backwards. Maths wasn't my best subject (F at A-level). But I would really like (now) to go to Uni, or at least study, just for the pleasure of study. I think education is wasted on the young, you only really appreciate it when you're older. But I'm not confident (or rich) enough to start now. And I have nowhere near enough time, so it will have to wait, and I'll continue to read everything about anything I ever get my hands on. If you see what I mean.

Customers - don'tcha just hate 'em? My life would be sooooo much easier if mine would all jump off a cliff. But on the other hand... I have just received a bottle of Champagne (the real thing!) from one and some smiley - choc from another. So they can't all be bad...

Love
Sho

Hi Sho,
I hope you have had a great Christmas and New Year. I have not been around much lately, so I have not been able to get back to you.

Have you had any snow, there seems to be a lot of snow everywhere. We have been having the temp at about 37deg lately, and it is great for the kids on holidays but not much fun to work in.

My Christmas and New year was very quiet and relaxed which was what we really needed, I seem to be battling with a feeling of exhaustion. I am very glad this 2000 year is over It may have not come to the end of the world, but it was a pretty bad year. So I hope yours is better next year and mine also smiley - smiley

See ya around soon
