Actually most of my relationships fell to bits - time and distance, etc. -butwith the hindsight of maturity, who's to say they wouldn't have any way....

By the way, PONGO is an abusive term used by the Navy for ground troops ("Wherever the Army goes, the pong goes")including the Marine Corps. It is not actually used as anything other than an insult. I would suggest,given the term, that you were married to a sailor, perhaps ? Marginally better is the universal 'Squaddie', which still conjures images of a badly dressed spud-peeling working class National Serviceman. A kind of typecasting, I suppose. You said 'Married to the Mob', suggesting he was/is a soldier, as the term Mob generally refers to the Army specifically. In general, the term 'pongo' is as enthusiastically received as the term 'Darkie.
