h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Congratulations - you have just arrived at the greatest website in all the universe! My name is Nosebagbadger (Nbb for short), I'm one of the Assistant Community Editors (ACEs) who help all of those newly arrived at our amazing guide.

Firstly I'm afraid I have to ask you if you can read this: by that I mean does your site have a blue and white starry banner? If it has then I suggest that you change your "skin", by putting www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2 now up in your url bar at the top of the screen and then looking at this message again.

This wonderful black and yellow skin makes it far easier to sail around this site, however, it wouldn't be h2g2 if we didn't disagree with each other so if you want, go to "my preferences" and play around in the "my skin" section to find one that suits you.

You have likely come here either after being pointed this direction by a friend (to whom please pass on our thanks) or after finding an entry and enjoying it so much that you wanted to come have a more detailed look - if you did enjoy an entry, it probably wasn't one of mine, but who knows, in a short time it could be one of yours!

You can contribute however much (or little) as you want to, it is entirely up to you.
Do you want to make some comments on the various entries throughout the guide? These comments allow writers to keep their entries up to date, or even just be reassured by feedback from their readers.

You could write an entry on a subject that is your passion, h2g2 covers everything from the Isle of Wight to Eggy Bread to the Milky Way galaxy. To take a browse just run over to the front page and click on the "infinite improbability drive" for a quick glance at an Edited Guide Entry.

Or if poetry and fiction is where you can shine maybe the Post is more your thing. Here you can write (or draw) about whatever you want. From comics to your best lies, feel free to let your artistic side run wild. For a brief view of what the Post can entail, just look down the front page.

Don't worry if you don't understand what i might be jibbering on about; have a look at ( A83344313 ) and see if it can help you find your way around what might be best for you.
H2G2 might be confusing, but there will always be somewhere for you to find your own place, and hundreds of people to help point you there.

In the meantime you could update your space, most users are anonymous in h2g2, so write however you like, and it will let your new friends know that they've reached the right person so much more easily.

Life round here is often hectic, and like all good researchers you have chosen to arrive at a rather complicated time, take a look round ( A85803771 ) and subscribe for future details.
