No. I really *am* mainly offline at the moment, just making surgical strikes into specific threads, and hardly any of those. By my standards, anyway.

Only Kerr and myself clogging up the servers talking *absolute* cobblers...smiley - winkeye

Not the sort of thing that should be encouraged, really.

Hows you anyway? (I have, btw, taken the liberty of adding you to my MSN list - but you do seem to be genuinely offline so far as that is concerned...smiley - laugh)

Oh, I am genuinely off-line.

My ADSL modem went smiley - tits-up, and so I am paying for internet connection to Cix by the minute, and blipping online, downloading emails and h2g2 pages, and then replying offline. (Did you know that there is a time-lag of up to 15 minutes while people who are actually off-line show as being off-line on the "who's online" box, and with the eye-things? That may be confusing the issue).

Hopefully I will receive a new ADSL modem today, and even more hopefully the damn thing will work. If not, then I will have to get the PC to the PC doctor. smiley - erm

I am in good spirits, for no good reason. I am extremely out of work at the moment, and not much sign of a real job on the horizon. And we are about to enter into a quiet time in a really quiet market, which is very scary. I have run out of savings, so I am now temping which won't keep the wolf from the door, but will at least mean that all he can do is bare his teeth at me and snarl though the letter-box.

I am in what has turned out to be an unexpectedly important relationship, which gives me great joy, but which is logistically crazy, (you wouldn't believe...!) and which - natch - involves some rather complicated baggage, (not mine, his, but - again - you wouldn't believe!) So I am either ludicrously happy or perilously unhappy, depending on the combination of logistics and baggage which is in force at the time.

Why couldn't I just have a nice simple affair with the postie, and be done with it? So-o-o-o-o-o much easier!

So that's me. Enjoying the sunshine, but skating on all sorts of thin ice. (Hmmm. I wonder if there is a connection there... smiley - huh)

How 'bout you? Ping me when you DO see me on MSN, if you don't want to spill beans here. It ususally says "busy" but that is so I can ignore people I don't want to talk to. Presupposing the new ADSL modem works, of course.

I'm good. As I said to Kerr, I get by with a little help from my friends, a .44 magnum and a ass pocket full of whisky...smiley - laugh

Sorry to hear the job things a bit messy - living with a flatmate in it I know just how bad the market is and you have my sympathy.

You can have our postie if you like. Got very knobbly knees though...<laugh.

The bizzare thing is that I have actually been doing a lot of hand-gun shooting recently - not in the UK I hasten to add, and with airgun replicas mainly - but I have discovered a very indecorous passion for making tin cans eat lead. smiley - laugh

I won't patronise by saying crap like 'the pain does ease' - but it does, (and I did). I look back at myself five years ago, (before and during but not really after the Big-D) and am astonished at how awful I felt at the time, (I write up a journal every now and again, so I can check up on how I was. It is salutory reading, and I always wish that I did it more often).

No ADSL box in the post, so I must smiley - run
