I must go to several places tomorrow. I could do with a couple of days off. Life is getting terribly dull at the moment. I could do with something to liven it up. But then I'd only complain about that. I suppose I'm going to see Francesca in April, and that's not long, and I am awfully fond of her. She has apparently been bigging me up to one of her pgs. Who's been trying to blambloozle me by farting in my face. I told him we had a lot to learn from the Jews about the endless depths of death, even the death of God. Or something. It all makes perfect sense but he probably won't understand it because if he does he'll be a remarkable man to come back to me so soon. If he comes back to me it'll prove he hasn't understood a word I've told him.

Mind you I could have told that to Malcolm. And that bloke at the Department.

When all I can remember is suffering, suffering, why should I stop now?

Yet when she sparkles like the rain on the mown grass, how can I deny her imploring sweetness?

Perhaps I can write another tract tonight. Perhaps I can apply what I know about language to the teaching of sanctification, the doctrine of the mortification of sin especially. Old Willie Still used to try to get his people to understand the sweetness of the Death of Jesus into which we drop when we undergo mortification. I don't know that he really had the philosophy to grasp how different is our language when we preach from within Christ.

I've just discovered Stravinsky's Piano Concerto! After all this time! it's like waking up to sex in the middle of an examination on Hebrew grammar and coming all over the floor.
