That's a bit of a mouthful, mind if I call you Robert for short? smiley - smiley

Anyway, welcome to h2g2! I'm one of the Assistant Community Editors, so if you need any advice on anything h2g2 related, feel free to ask!

If you're looking for somewhere to go, you might want to try the welcome page for newcomers - http://www.h2g2.com/A5752 - or the Aces' homepage - http://www.h2g2.com/Aces - which has lots of interesting links. Also, if you click on the h2g2 logo in the top left corner, it will take you back to the front page, which gets updated daily with all the latest goodies.

While you're here, we'd also like you to contribute to the guide - try searching for some topics that interest you, and if there are no current entries on those topics, why not write one? If you're interested, have a look at http://www.h2g2.com/writing-guidelines for an idea of what we're looking for.

Have fun!

I was wanting to write a fairly large guide on how to play basic guitar and i would need to use illustrations if possible. I know html pretty well... if that helps. But is it possible to do this??

Ah, I see you've changed your name to confuse me - well done! smiley - smiley

It's certainly possible to include pictures in your entries, as long as you own the copyright on the pictures and have some webspace to host them on - unfortunately you can't upload pictures directly to the h2g2 servers at the moment, although that's something which might happen in the future...

You can write your entry in HTML format (I guess you know how to include pictures in HTML), or change to h2g2's own GuideML format - this is similar to HTML (based on XML, in fact) and is actually the preferred format as The People Who Do That Kind Of Thing are threatening to switch off HTML support at some point in the future and just use GuideML.

If you want to give GuideML a try, there's a guide at http://www.h2g2.com/GuideML-Clinic which should point you in the right direction, including the GuideML PICTURE tag which I think may be of some help.

Good luck! smiley - smiley
