Wampus

That name wouldn't have been borrowed from the Green Day song of the same title, would it?

Just wondering.

Greenday song of the same name? I'm afraid I don't remember that song. What album is it on? (I'm really only familiar with the one that got big though...The one with Basket Case and all that...)

The name derives from a long and very secret story about my first few days as a Researcher. Only if you ask really much will you ever know the truth behind the name. (Hint: It's an acronym and it's mentioned somewhere in the sign-up pages)

JAR (which, in the song, stands for Jason Andrew Revela) is a lesser known track by Green Day. It was on the "Angus" soundtrack.

If you tell me the story of your name, I'll be happy to tell you where my name came from. smiley - winkeye

The story behind my name. Yes, well now that I've hyped it up, I better take some (or all) of the air out of the balloon. smiley - winkeye

When I first signed up, I called myself Just Another Researcher. The name met with opposition from a few ACEs. They said that nobody around here was "Just Another Researcher"; everyone was highly unique individuals and that in time, I too would find a nick that suited me. After some search and research I came to the conclusion that Just Another Researcher suited me fine. I concealed it as the acronym coined by the very first visitor to my Personal Space: JAR.

So, how about you Wampus?

Wampus

In America (I don't know where you're from) there is a game show called "Win Ben Stein's Money." The premise is that there's a rich fellow named Ben Stein who, in each game, puts up $5000 of his own money and competes for it against three contestants. The show is pretty humorous, as most of the question category names are puns or innuendos, and both the host and co-host spend lots of time making fun of each other.

In one episode, they had a very interesting contestant. This fellow had an afro (unusual for a white person), 1950's style glasses, and was named Wampus (his real name). Of course, he lost in the first round, but he was so funny a person that they brought him back in a couple of "The Losers Return" episodes, and once he got to read some of the questions.

I like Wampus as a name because not everyone else knows it or uses it, so I can be Wampus instead of Wampus12947.
