SIGN THE PETITION AGAINST SOFTWARE PATENTS IN THE EU

Imagine you are going to improve h2g2's DNA software, and suddenly you find that somebody has patented the buttons that people press, the scrollbars people drag, the browsers they view it with, the hyperlinks they click, the fonts they view... Untangling masses of tongue-twisting legal jargon in a labyrinth of software patents would be a nightmare - software development would screech to a halt. Open source projects would fizzle and die.
Yet the EU is considering legalising all that.
