h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Right here goes - don't know what the etiquette of this wierd h2g2 thing is but - Zantic we were flat mates in Glasgow and I'd just like to find out if you are well. We were flat mates in that flat just off the Cessnock underground and we used to chat alot even though we had nothing in common! Just want to find out what you are up to and tell you my latest news. Hope you are well.
I've called myself something stupid like Niwenga which were just the buttons I hit randomly on the computer.

I've lost touch with almost everyone I've ever shared a flat with, and it's absoultely brilliant that you've bothered to come over and check my page out! (stunned, really I am)

I'm fine, doind a PhD in London for the moment, but I'm moving up to Dundee in the middle of July...Still doing the PhD, but in a MUCH nicer environment

Becky has turned up again. She and Woody (remember her man?) have moved in together in Glasgow and she seem to be a much more stable person these days... As far as I can tell she dissapeared off back to Birmingham and sorted herself out..

Umm...that's it I think for the moment. Got to go do some of that work stuff...

Super to hear from you! I didn't think this would work! Brilliant to find out you are doing a PhD - you brainy cow. What are you actually doing it on - is it genetics based - if so tell me a bit cos I do find all that interesting.

Well, my life went wierd but good after Uni. I went to live in China for a year after Glasgow which really changed my life for the good. Then I came back for 6 months (Mum and Dad decided to foster a kid - bizarre/ mental decision so I was helping out with that and then my Mum got cancer so I helped out with that to - she's fine now though). Then (and I don't know whether you remember me always going on about Bill Jenkins who I was convinced I was going to marry even though we were only vague friends and he lived in Nottingham) I invited Bill back to China with me in Nov 1999, in Jan 2000 he discovered (that is the most appropriate word) that he liked me and so we got married 6 weeks later (19 Feb 2000) and then went to China on the 22nd of Feb 2000. Lived there for another 6 months then came back to Swansea to do a Social Work degree. Then in June 2002 I had a baby boy, Leo Ashraf Jenkins (8lb 9oz, 2 day labour, 3rd degree tear, blood transfusions, infections, lots of screaming but eventually lots of smiles and joy). So now I'm a Mum and just trying to finish off my dissertation so I can be a fully fledged social worker and cause people stress. That's about it.
Got to go and sort my brother out who is 16 and acting like a t**t.

WOW! I think you've packe din more living thatn I have! Not that that's very difficult.

Spent the first year after uni searching for a PhD to do, doing volunteer work in my aunts lab and working nights in an all night shop in Edinburgh. Then I got a I yr Reaseearch assistant post in London with one of the guys I'd done some free work for. The got a phD studentship out of that too, so I'm in the second year of my phD at Guy's hospital. However, boos is moving to Dundee, Ninewells hospital,a nd I am following seeing as how I HATE london in all it's glory.

The PhD is looking at the phosphoryltion interaction of the two genes which, when mutated, cause a disease called hereditart heamorrhagic telangiectasia (not sure that's how you spell it...I plugged it into my spell check on the first day, and so let the computer take care of the spelling from then on!

Much like you I'm now goingout with a bloke I've know for donkeys years (one of the IO crowd that I used to go around with)He still is based in Glasgow, but is currently doing a lot of work in London, so we get to see each other quite a bit at the moment, which is also nice.

I can't believe you got marrit after 6 weeks, but then again, you were always sure it was going to happen... And you a mum too! You can't be..you are too nice (and that comment goes for the social worker bit aswell....I'm sorry, but I have difficulty seeing it! )

Anyway, The work I came in to do today can't be done, so I'll leave for now and chat anoterh time.
