new postings not showing on personal space

smiley - space

new postings are not showing on my personal space
but still showing in the site latest conversations list
http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/info?cmd=conv

so anyone unaware of this
logs into their space
or just goes there to look if any new postings in their subscribed threads
and they will see none

it appears at this point to have been going on for 3 or 4 hours

a few hours ago everything went down for a short time with a message that some necessary maintenance was being done and it was hoped that all would be done by 9 am GMT. At something like 1 am GMT things seemed to be back to normal except for this new posting problem.

Perhaps all will be well in the morning.smiley - erm

yah

well it appears that if you post in someone's message center it will register

so this message is the only current posting in paul's lists that is current

also... there is this that i have been posting around so folks dont get too lost
for however long this lasts

it seems we have, probably only temporarily, lost the ability to see new postings on our personal spaces

so here are two links to see latest postings

http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/info?cmd=conv will show last 20 conversations

http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/info?cmd=conv?show=200 will show last 200 conversations

at least you can see when the REAL last posting was in each thread

I've had a chat with the team here and this is what they said:
"During the night between approx.. 12.25 to 1.40 the DNA application was down due to a problem with the database. The application was failed over to the backup database. Currently we are reviewing the application to check all the services are restored correctly."
So things should be back to normal later on - don't know when but if I get more info I'll let you know,
Sorry! Paul

Could be if it's something that's been happening since last night.

Thankfully, it's now fixed (sorry if I'm spamming this, but it's made my otherwise fairly miserable afternoon).

Hi Everybody,

Looking at your comments this appears to be fixed. Let me know if that's not the case - Chris should be in shortly so we have the brains back in the business,

It's fixed to a certain degree:

Yes, new posts are now shown on or conversation lists *if* we happen to refresh the list regularly. The list does not automatically refresh as the convo popup in Brunel did. That's one bit of functionality still lost: what used to be automatic now requires the user to regularly click reload;

And, clicking on the 'one new post' thingy in Barlesque still brings us to the first post of the thread rather than the most recent unread post. That's a whole lot of functionality still lost: what used to be a single click is now two clicks and a bunch of scrolling.

I've given it another try and sorry, but I'm sticking with Brunel until the new thing has the same degree of functionality or until the old system is shut down. Sadly, if the old system gets shut down before the new one actually works as well as the old one, I'll probably not be back very much.smiley - sadface

I think this is a different problem to the one at the weekend which has been fixed. The refreshing conversation list is a separate issue which is still being looked at,
Cheers
