How are things back in Blighty right now?

I was going to say that the Mail is Britain's answer to Beck/Limbaugh/Hannity, and it probably is, but there's another American TV show presenter, dead recently I think, who was known for shouting at his guests, and for the life of me I can't recall his name. Maybe big in the 70s/80s? I might have seen him once, yelling at a vegetarian woman about how he smoked 60 a day, drank like a fish and ate meat and he looked a whole lot better than she did.
And to be honest, he did.

Isn't it interesting, though, how the two people who are grabbing all the headlines from this year's Tory party conference are...
...the Labour Party leader, and his father the Marxist theoretician?
Hear that noise just now? I think something's just backfired.

If this is true... http://www.newstatesman.com/politics/2013/10/osborne-reveals-true-aim-help-buy-inflate-house-prices
"Hopefully we will get a little housing boom and everyone will be happy as property values go up."
Of all the things in life that we need, food, shelter and heat are probably the three most important, at least on a day-to-day basis. Bearing in mind that all three cost money, and that you need a job to get money, and you need a job that pays a decent wage, and that a lot of people don't have one of those, it doesn't seem like rocket science to me that being happy about prices of any of them going up in a way that outstrips earnings and/or puts any of them out of the reach of anyone is more than just wrong.
But then, look at who's saying it.

I feel good knowing that the Daily Mail hates me. (Has anyone here ever read the Irish Daily Mail? It's a strange beast.)

It's basically the same Daily Mail edifice imported, rebuilt brick-by-brick, and then given a coat of green paint. It's a bit depressing that it took off, really...
