Yea, good timing for a good weekend. It's "Pirate Weekend" at the Texas Ren-Fest. I'll be camping out there.

Today is sort of the first day of my holiday, and apart from Wednesday night/Thursday morning when there's a cold front and rain, the next eight days are looking just the way I was hoping - sunny and mid-70s
I say 'sort of' because my two weeks officially begins on Friday but I requested today, Wednesday and Thursday off. Then, when I was writing the bar schedule last week and I got the weekly email from the woman who books private parties for us, I found that we have a party on Thursday that we've had before - a company who buys out the whole theatre from 7am until 6pm (and then a happy hour outside) and I have to be there for it... at 5.30am
I'm just thinking of the overtime right now.

Rain! Lots of rain We've probably had about an inch and a half, but the hourly reports from Camp Mabry stopped at 4.51am, by which time we'd already had 0.6" in a very short time. Other local stations are reporting between 1.4" and 1.7" and it looks like we're going to get at least another two or three hours of pluvius before it dries up. It looks like the squall line is hitting you just about now, CZ.
It's also very, very dark. If I didn't have the little table lamp next to the sofa switched on, I wouldn't be able to see the keyboard.

Oh, it's a bit chilly too seeing as how this is all the result of a cold front, and the temperature is still dropping, slowly. Since I got the PC going a little over an hour ago it's dropped from 59F to 56.

Luckily I was in at work before the rain started,(and before dawn ). Lunch and the drive home will probably be a bit moist.

A bit moist. Said with classic British understatement
Even I get up (or rather, wake up) before the dawn now, at least for another five days until the clocks go back on Sunday morning.

The ground is becoming saturated now. It's not raining any harder than it was an hour ago but the water is starting to pool instead of draining away. That's not a good sign, especially for the folks on Lamar close to Shoal Creek and with so much more rain still to come.

Good grief - 75/23.9 at 7am this morning, two days before the end of October! Gonna be 50/10 tonight after a cold front comes through. And more rain. And more rain to come. Then a gorgeous weekend.

It's that time of the year again - the one that throws me for a loop. The one just after the clocks go back but where we have days that are clear and sunny and in the mid to upper 70s, in other words, what I would call a nice summer's day.
But this is November. On a nice summer's day in London, ie around June and July, it doesn't get dark until after 10pm. I would get out of work at say, 7pm and expect at least another three hours of daylight. But now I get out of work at 7pm and it's nighttime already

This morning, when I got to work at dawn riding in with my jacket, pullover and chaps, it was 77°/25C as it was yesterday, and Monday as well... And all of last week.
I think they need to fix the marquee's thermometer.

Days like this in November are why we put up with the Texas summer. Sunny, mid 70s, gentle breeze... you couldn't wish for nicer weather, especially at this time of the year

Yep, autumn is my favorite season. I just love it. Summer in West-(bygod)-Virginia is nice too. They think it's hot when the temps reach the mid 80's.

For me it's a toss up between Texas spring and Texas autumn. The weather's pretty much the same for both seasons - sunny and in the 70s, but you also get the thunderstorms in March and April You've also got new leaves on the trees, and the clocks have gone onto summer time so it stays light a little later in the spring than in the autumn, and you know that the sunset is going to get later and the evenings longer, whereas the days are getting shorter at this time of the year. But in spring you also know that the great monster Texas summer is just around the corner.

Well, we did get the snow today that was being forecast all week long - all 37 flakes of it Yeah, that's about as much snow as we saw here in Austin this afternoon. I tell you what though, it's bloody taters out there, and getting colder. It's 35F/1.7C right now, with a forecast low tonight of 25/-3.9. That's by anybody's standards.

Some areas around here got a few inches. Some of it even stuck to the ground for a few hours.
Here in sunny Bacliff we got about 42 flakes.

We did indeed make it down to 25F this morning, and it felt like it It warmed up nicely though - when the wind wasn't blowing it was really quite pleasant in the sunshine. It's going to be cold again tonight, in the 30s by dawn.
