I have read through the entire entry and all my P tags are closed - still says it.

You can get round this strict GuideML/XML nonsense by swapping your:
blah blah blah
blah blah blah
for:
blah blah blah
blah blah blah
GuideML/XML is sooooooooooo strict that it will spit the dummy if you put rather than - ie make sure what ever you have in your closing tag is the same as in your opening tag. This may be the root of your problem. Its not as forgiving as HTML.
I do think GuideML is great, just not very forgiving.

I have FINALLY managed to edit my entry and it looks a bit better now I think.
