Yes, I had that problem with Space 1999 too. Luckily UFO was easier to understand - there were UFOs coming to Earth and the organisation existed to stop them, with spacecraft on the moon. You have to see it if you can - it's great in a cheesy way. smiley - smiley

Well that seems a simple enough plot. Perhaps they'll show it on TV again soon.

Hopefully - the first episode was really great in a cheesy, but fun, kind of way. Jet planes launched from submarines, spaceships that could only carry one missile with which to destroy the UFO, and the wigs and costumes where great!
One good thing was that it showed that in the future, people at discos listen to the Beatles as one episode had "Get Back" played in the background. smiley - winkeye
The other episodes got a little repetitive after a while. smiley - sadface

Of course, the future will be filled with the Beatles smiley - winkeye

I don't like it when tv programs I like get dull. As long as they keep making new ones, though, its okay.

Ah yes - the Beatles are the future. Afterall, they are now making a new film about the life of John Lennon... As if "The Hours And Times", "Birth of the Beatles" and "Backbeat" weren't enough smiley - winkeye

The main problem with UFO was that not a lot happens. The first few are great, but then they start repeating themselves. When "Space 1999" was made later, they avoided repeating themselves by going mad. So overall, UFO was better. smiley - smiley

But - can you really have too many Beatles films?

not that I've seen any. smiley - sadface

Hello Spacegirl

Can you have too many Beatles films?
NEVER!!! If done properly. I guess it depends on what you mean by "Beatles films".
there were the films with the Beatles in themselves:
"A Hard Days Night", "Help!", "Yellow Submarine" and "Magical Mystery Tour" (of which - "Yellow Submarine" is a MUST SEE)
there are films based on the lives of the Beatles, such as I mentioned above.
And films with members of the Beatles in, but not the group, such as
"How I Won The War", "The Magic Christian", "Give My Regards To Broad Street" and many others.

But can you have too many? I don't think so.
But poor quality films about the Beatles lives should be discouraged.

I've seen bits of Yellow Sbmarine on the television.

They didn't seem to think that they would spend very long shooting this new film, they way I heard it. But the news may have been wrong.

Hello Spacegirl

Post 29

Bluebottle

We'll see how the shooting comes out - I'm curious to see what it's like. Definately. And whether I agree with it or not...

What did you think of Yellow Submarine?

Hello Spacegirl

Post 30

Spacegirl

I liked it. It was surreal, but fun smiley - smiley

I'd definately agree with that description of Yellow Submarine - it's one of my favourite films. smiley - smiley
I've got 3 model yellow submarines in my room...

Hello Spacegirl

Post 32

Spacegirl

Three! smiley - smiley Are they all different?

Hello Spacegirl

Post 33

Bluebottle

Yes.
The first one I have has wheels and when you push it the periscopes spin round. There are also 2 hatches which open and the Beatles pop out. (It cost me £27 and is the most expensive thing I've ever bought for myself)
The second one you can wind up a motor and see the propellers at the back spin round.
The third one is squidgy, so you can squash it like a stress ball, and it always returns to it's original shape. smiley - smiley

They sound cool. Especially the squidgy one. A squidgy submarine smiley - smiley

Did I mention the Yellow Submarine calendar and the Yellow Submarine figures I have?

Hello Spacegirl

Post 37

Bluebottle

Oh well, I have now. smiley - smiley
So, what you up to? Is there anything you're obsessed with and have posters etc everywhere?

Any plans for the weeks ahead?

Hello Spacegirl

Post 38

Spacegirl

I don't really have many posters, or obsessions. Although I do like to cook, especially cakes and biscuits. But my last cake went a little wrong, so I shan't be adding the recipe for it to h2g2 just yet.

Hello Spacegirl

Post 39

Bluebottle

Ah... And presumably you can't hang cakes on the walls in the same way that you can posters...

What type of cakes do you make?
*Do you realise you're making me hungry!*
