I've currently got a pile of 20 Discworld books that I must get around to reading some time... Everyone says that they're good and funny, so I'll get around to it sooner or later. At the moment I'm reading William Shatner's biography "Star Trek Memories". The grammer is terrible.
As for the series ending - no, it doesn't quite end with it all being a dream, it's better than that - just. Although in a way it does. As you said, it's very odd - you'll have to read and find out for yourself.

wow, you have 20 diskworld novels?!?!!?!?!? I am SO VERY jealous!!! I only have the first three.....They ARE good and funny. Essentially, if you like Douglas Adams, you will like Terry Pratchet, same sort of stuff. They are slowly re-releasing them all in paperback, and I am going to be picking them up as they come out.
The shatner book sounds interesting. Hey, did you read that one where he went around to conventions in costume, just to see what they were like? I forget the title, but it sounded like an interesting concept.

The Shatner book was quite good - but biographys are hard to mess up. ALthough it mentioned that he'd written SEVEN Tek books and I'd only heard of four... But it was quite an enjoyable read, and I learnt a lot more about the people behind Star Trek then I knew before. He was good enough to concentrate not on the actors, but on the creators, and not just Gene Roddenbury, who recieves all the attention.
As for the Discworld books, I picked them up in book markets and second hand shops for between 50p - £2 each, only took me about 2 months. I've read all Terry Pratchett's other books, it's just getting the time to read them. I'm currently reading a Micheal Sheard autobiography called "Yes, Admiral" and then I'll probably read some Edward Lear or Chaucer.
