Understanding Stupidity: A field study
Posted Aug 10, 2010
Yes, there is a guide entry, this is a field study, they're different, and cover the same topic, essentially this is a watered-down version.
We all encounter times when something or someone is stupid and sometimes we ask, "Why would the person do that/why is that like that?" Can you honestly answer that question most of the time and get the right answer?
If your answer is yes stop reading.
If no continue.
Stupidity is quite situational, you can only be stupid if you are inept at the situation, therefore no situation equals no stupidity, unless the person in question is generally stupid, those are the people you see quite rarely, such as the one person in your class/office who just tries to recreate hell for everyone yet doesn't know how to get away with it. Therefore stupidity could just be the consequence of ineptness or scattered-brain.
Stupidity on the other hand can be useful and I will elaborate on that in another study.
