Not to sound really dumb or anything, but who is Robert Cray? live on U.S. West Coast, have not heard of him before. Actor, writer, singer, musician, band, or what? smiley - huh. Am part Scottish on my mom's side.

Yes, it's alright. Not all fun in the sun like the (is it) Beachboys sang once, though. smiley - laughWork in the sun,sit in traffic in the sun, study in schools in the sun. Colder at night though. Blazing in afternoon, and sometimes its foggy in the early morning. Yes I did search the ancestry. Have a coat of arms blazonry featuring a greyhound's head, what is it those heraldry fellows say, 'erased' and "counterchanged." Has a crest on helmet turned at side view, too. It's a "lion-rampant"* sometimes shown holding a sword.
*that's how I figured it was scottish. That and how there are these thingies called principle and secondary charges, that at the moment I smiley - ermcan't really remember too well. smiley - rofl. I probably sound like a pompous smiley - bleep going on about heraldry like that when I barely know anything about it. I'll listen to any kind of music except for modern boyband popsmiley - yuk. Only if girls make me. smiley - runWhy is that? I like to play instruments flute, bass-upright, some drum, etc. and that genre of music never seems to have any good instrumental sections in it. smiley - tea

Family trees and ancestry really interests mesmiley - smileyIt is a sense of history ,my mother traced her family tree, and discovered that we had relatives in the U.S.A (Virginia)that were doing the same thingsmiley - biggrinSpooky coincidence.I am actually going to a big family wedding tomorrow ,all the men will be wearing kilts and the ceremony is in the abbey smiley - magicThe Abbey is really old and you can feel the past as soon as you walk into it,it is very beautiful.
I admire any one who can play a musical instrument smiley - biggrin.I like lots of different kinds of music but the Blues is my favorite.
We have had a heatwave here ,which is very unusualsmiley - laugh but I hope it cools down just a bit for tomorrow.

Wow, that's neat. A heatwave... well I'll be...Do you want to know something kind of odd?
this colleague of mine in the summer chem course I am taking is a Sikh and he could immediately tell that I was part Scottish. Hmm, just one traditional warrior culture to another, I guess. smiley - biggrinInteresting thing is that instead of wearing say a dirk by their knee sock, these guys wear a small ceremonial dagger around their neck instead. Also turns out they don't like getting haircuts. I can relate, since getting side burns butchered is frustrating (They were almost the exact same length too)smiley - grr. So what they do instead is brush it upwards (sideburns and all), into a hat, so it stays out of the way. A wedding, smiley - huh Gee, if men at weddings in Scotland wear kilts, then does that mean there might be a haggis(smiley - run, just kidding, hope that that didn't offend anyone) among the other foods at the banquet type thingy, that is usually afterwards, if I am remembering formal occasions, and ceremonies quite right? Usually at weddings there is also usually some sort of dancing too. Have fun smiley - cheers.

...The original bearer of said livery and blazonry with matching last name to my mum's side was probably a lowland Scottsperson who owned like either a valley or some land in one, and a swordsman, that most likely existed either in the 14th or 16th Cent. The other people bearing that name were some dame who, I think owned an inn, about one of those two times, way back when, that no longer exists in present Scottland/England, and some guy in a 17th Cent. Tax census. Quite odd. Even though I don't think I was there, myself at the time...Do you believe in the doppleganger theory? Perhaps through some weird extension of it or that "collective unconscious" Jungian psychology thingy...Am not saying that I was my ancestor. That would be silly. But I can somehow oddly recall back something about (maybe it was me?) being tried "as a smiley - wizard." It was in... like some kind of village I think. In the summer or winter. The details are nothing specific persay, but I think I daresay that the punishment was what was common for that sort of transgression. Hanged off of a tree by a rope, I think. Would probably have whited out and not noticed anything after that, but can kind of remember getting treated like a pin~ata kind of in a way. Don't know why...I can remember something like that. If it didn't ever really happen to mesmiley - run...Weirdsmiley - eureka. Maybe...someone very similar to you and this other guy were somewhere nearby traveling at that time? smiley - weird I really have no idea.

maybe there should be an owl smiley. A smiley - bat just isn't quite the same.
You can read my newest h2g2 proj. if you would like to; a short-story called "The Masked Highwayman." It's going to be a farsical parody epic hybrid that is in equal parts composed of elements from Zorro, Monty Python and The Highlander. Replaced the Pansyish fencing (Only jokingly calling it that, hope no offense is taken...Ack! lousy pun snuck right up on me), with more gung-ho claymore and greatsword chopping down of tables (and accompanying bowl of fruit on top). It all starts out about this guy who loses a pub-room bet and then receives a far-reaching insult. he has to seek retribution incognito(they ought to have a smiley wearing glasses w/a false nose and fake moustache for this sort of thing, wouldn't you say?), and the villain is going to be an icky Viscount. smiley - vampire. Right now I can't think of a name for my title Character though, so if you have any suggestions... It's not finished, but I'd really like to see what people think so far of the intro. paragraph. Also How are you doing?smiley - tea
-Thornsmiley - wizard.
