They were just healed nicely when I fell off the stepladder while re-arranging books. The books rained on my head and shoulders the loose shelves crashed into my right arm and my shins and a heavy teapot hit me on the ear. Fortunately neither shin nor teapot broken.
My 'nice young man' was due to do a little plastering so he put everything back in the right places. I am under strict instructions from both him and my sons not to climb any more ladders. (I always knew housework was a bad idea)smiley - starsmiley - star

smiley - cross listen to your sons and the nice young man and the not-so-nice-not-so-young-lady (in Germany smiley - winkeye) and quit with the housework, already.

I hope your books are ok! smiley - laugh

One slightly warped spine. Have laid it flat with heavy things on top . it's 'As they say in Zanzibar' by David Crystal. (My own spine seems unscathed) Wand'rin smiley - starsmiley - star

And let that be a lesson to you.

I'm glad you're ok though - I'd hate to think of something more serious happening.

btw - when I've finished with the McCall Smith book do you want me to sendd it over to you?

No dear. I would only give it to the local library. Just pass it on to another reader somehow.smiley - starsmiley - star
I find these Botswana stories are getting a bit samey. I loved the first two or three, mostly because we'd visited ffrom Lesotho and loved it.I also liked the TV adaptation, with the lovely bright painted houses. Could almost smell it. i really miss Africa - especially in February.

oh thank you. I'll pass it to my mum - she's been reading the series. And I think you're right - they did get a bit samey. But still - it's really amazing how a middle-aged middle-class scottish lawyer got into the head of an african woman.

I too loved the TV adaptation - only I wish she'd been a bit more traditionally built!

I'll enjoy reading the African part of your memoires...

We had a 'housekeeper' in Lesotho who was so traditionally built that I couldn't get my arms round her when I tried to hug her. She made bread three times a week which is why I'm rather traditionally built myself. We used to collect a litre of full fat milk every day as well- straight from the cows.smiley - starsmiley - star

sounds fab
but feeding me these breadcrumbs is not going to get you out of writing your memoires!
