lights in the eastern sky
Posted Oct 3, 2000
There was talk on the radio this morning about a pair of lights that have been in the eastern sky for about a week during the early morning. Callers described them as streams of light, and said that a second pair had joined them this morning. I haven't seen them as yet, as I drive west in the mornings and people are just now discussing them, but rest assured I will check them out.

Color block spandex.
No really attractive men.
Liposuction or diet and exercise appear to be mandatory, but baldness is in.
Mock turtlenecks, or any turtlenecks.
The women don't ever wear mini skirts.

An actual person's name I came across today: Barron Purifoy. Yep, that's two r's in the first name. Not quite as discreet as Ford Prefect.

sometimes I think too much

Driving home from work Friday, a soccer ball appeared seemingly out of nowhere and flew across the road, a few feet in front of my car, from left to right. A large grass median was on the left, but I could see no one there.
Last night I dreamt that I broke a longstanding curse on me. I'm unclear now on what the curse was and what will happen to me now that it is broken.
I'm sure these two events are completely unrelated.
Just now, I was just thinking about how one of my brothers only dreams in black and white, and he is mr logical like a vulcan or something unless he gets really mad. Then I realized that a soccer ball is also black and white. Perhaps the two events are about logic meeting imagination, and that I should kick the hell out of logic, symbolized by the black and white soccer ball, and consider alternative realities. Still, probably completely unrelated.
The croissant shortage in the donut shop continues.

Find out why the croissant suppliers to the donut shop in the building in which I work are on strike. Try to negotiate end to strike.
If have time left over after completing the above task, do the following:
Vote in the presidential election.
Write a book and/or go back to graduate school and/or go to law school.
Look up "sanguine" in a dictionary, just to be sure.
Find a new job and quit the current one.
Book a vacation to Key West.
Look up "celibacy" in a dictionary, just to be sure.
Take research trip to Red River Gorge, bring camera and take photos.
Buy a metal detector and look for legendary lost Swift silver.
Decide what I'm doing for Thanksgiving and book trip if needed.
