I think you should put in white nettle to attract butterflies, apple blossom for the bumblebees and curry mint to attract the pimms drinking humanoids.
Mmmm - summertime, and the livin' is easy

Hmmmmm...Pimms...mmmm...what a good idea. In the real world, Pimms, somewhat like Summer, has somehow eluded me so far this year...
Thanks for the suggestions Duncan. Will plant as suggest and watch how they grow! Drop by for some Pimms sometime.

Plant buddlea also for butterflies and golden rod. I'd put spearmint or apple mint in the Pimms, but it's a matter of taste anyway and you need as many different types of honeysuckle as possible. Twine them round the bare nranches of old roses - the combined scent is fantastic. Grow clover or camomile instead of grass. Much nicer to sit on. Hope the sun shines for you
Pimms for Poms?

This evening is promised to be a sunny one and I have a nice garden within 10 minutes walk of the beach - and will I be drinking Pimms? No - because I am in Dublin and such stuff is rarely drunk here.
OK - actually I'm playing football this evening, and any remaining daylight hours will be spent working on the car and its a "school night"...but my point still stands.
I think I shall have to pop back to Caistor (UK) in the next month or so in order to drink pimms surrounded by the flowers mentioned above...mmmm...

Good idea - the mint will be as "high as an elephant's eye" by then.Take a machete to hack your way through.

Due to much illness we can't get a team out tonight(very ironic, since we're supposed to be playing United Drug) and its not likely to stay dry all night so I may take a large G&T out to the garden...?

Bring several...only one proviso, NO football in this garden

Probably no car parts and/or engine oil neither?
What about food then? A bit of soda bread and butter from Ireland, Lincolnshire poacher cheese, some Hong Kong style dim sum - something along those lines...and a couple of bottles of "Waggledance" for the non-Pimms drinking people....
Mind if I bring a book - I'm reading "The river at the centre of the world" and its proving tricky to put down.

Thought you might like to edge your flower beds with some of these Alpine strawberry plants currently overflowing from my garden. The fruit may be small but by 'eck they pack a full-sized taste explosion. Just the thing to nibble on while wandering around your scented garden sipping from a glass of Pimms.
If football isn't allowed, can we play croquet on your lawn?
Anyone for croquet?
Wand'rin star Posted Jul 19, 2000
Not for the first year if it's camomile as it's fairly difficult to get it established. Put the strawberries in the Pimms. Then you've got one hand free.

I've just added a life size chess set, so, sadly (tee hee), no room for a cricket field...

A bit of sunscreen is to be recommended ( a case of do as I say, not as I do, as I've pink shoulders today and I'm not proud of them)...something waterproof so we can get out the water pistols?
