Hello Blue and welcome I'm Babel-17 (or B-17 for short), just thought I would drop in and say 'Hi' and give you a few links to interesting things. Enjoy!
Feel free to browse around and post in any forums you find
interesting.
There is much to see and do on h2g2 so here are a few links
to get you going:
The ACE's (Assistant Comunity Editors) reside here:

They are normally the meeter-greeters around here, I have
just been made one, so bear with me
There is a newcomers page here: http://www.h2g2.com/A5752
Full of good info.
If in doubt, just ask. Feel free to drop a line to one of
the ACE's, or myself and we will try to answer any queries
you might have.(just click on a name in a forum or article
and it will take you to their homepage then just click the
'Discuss' button and leave a message)
Also if you fancy a coffee and a chat, drop in to
The Aroma Cafe:http://www.h2g2.com/A202924

take you to the main page, with many a link on it!

*Pauses*

*finds a convenient shop door way, shrouded in shadow.
Stands just in the shadow and smokes a cigarette. He watches the coming and going. All that can be seen of the lurker is the occassional glow from the cigarette end as a puff is taken*
(not that i condone smoking, it just always happens that way in old movies )

*Coughs and waves away the smoke.* I say, would you mind terribly quitting trying to wrap me around you? I'm NOT a cloak, wrap or stole, I'm a...well...a shadow and most definitely not a garment.

Not that I'm hinting that you should do any writing or anything. Not at all. But just in case you have the urge...

And here I thought we were all waiting around (lurking, darting, whats the diff?) for BlueSax to come around...
Hi Blue
Babel17 Posted Jul 19, 2000
Ah yes writting, the stuff you do in between lurking
Where is BlueSax anyway, have we scared him off do you think?

As strange as it may seem, some people actually are NOT addicted to H2G2 and have lives outside of and away from it that preclude them from coming every day. Not that I'm one of them mind you, but Blue might.

Hi Blue

The politically correct way of saying it would be, "How long will it take THEM to end up like us?" BUT, as I hate political correctness I'll say, It varies with each individual. I've noticed that women generally tend to get hooked more quickly and easily when it comes to stuff like this than what men generally do. Of course, age is also a factor, the older one is, the less likely they are to spend their time yapping on a computer. But mainly it depends on how chatty the person is and/or how opinionated they are and/or how lonely they are and/or whether they enjoy reaching out and communicating with new people. I myself qualify for three of the four at the moment. I jibber-jabber like there's no tomorrow and it takes a miracle to change my mind about something I have an opinion on. Mainly because I've researched the topics and speak from fact, not suppositions for the most part. Naturally being an ACE, I enjoy meeting new people immensely. That about cover it?
