Hi M'niki!
Just popped over to return the favour and greet you properly on your page! How about you visiting Alphen aan den Rijn before the official meet!? There are plenty of mad h2g2ers here for you to get to know! We all meet up at Het Kasteel, a really great place for drinking and socialising!

Hi there! Alphen aan de Rijn, right?! I live in Nijmegen now, but there is a chance I might move to Utrecht soon..that's near A a.d. Rijn! Let's talk some more about the party!
Are there many Dutch h2g2 users? I'm completely in the dark here..nobody I know has ever heard from h2g2, so I was wondering...

Right:
Kheldar,ClownMCP,Don Vito,Don Alfredo,TowelMaster,Arutha and I (although not Dutch!) are all from Alphen. Pseudemys is now in Utrecht I believe and The Prez is in Amsterdam. Miriam is also Dutch... here atm but based in the Dutch Antilles! I am sure that there are more... but I can't remember them just now!

I was lucky. I was the second one in Alphen, so I didn't have to listen to 5 people telling me stories of how great h2g2 is. I only had TM preaching

HI there M'niki.
Well Kheldar is right(ofcourse). I was one of the last to join the group that Shazz mentioned, And I had to listen to all these stories on how great it is out here. It is great out here so that 's a good thing.
Anyway just wanting to say hi to another dutch h2g2'er.

and hallo to you! I give you another story of how great h2g2 is:
I'm on for 3 days now and I'm already addicted..thankfully I start a job on Monday, so that means I have less time to sit behind my computer..hahaha!

...and don't make fun of me when it turns out that -in spite of the job- I'll visit h2g2 every bit of sparetime!!

shazzPRME Posted Jul 20, 2000
Does that mean you are moving to Utrecht then M'niki?
Just an easy train journey to Alphen if you are.

I don't know yet..it depends if I get the steady job there..my.eh..'sollicitatie gesprek' (don't know what that is in English..) is still to come! Monday I start the same job in Utrecht, but this is just temporarily..but I thought that when I already worked there, te more chances I have to actually get the steady job, right?
If so, then I defenitely move to Utrecht, real soon too!! I have to find out how easy it is to get a house/apartment there or nearby...

Kheldar (Don't hate the media, Become the media) Posted Jul 21, 2000
LOL!! Sollicitatiegesprek is job interview. And you'll probably have more luck near Utrecht than in Utrecht itself.
btw, we would never make fun of anyone, especially not about h2g2 and spare time. We are not at all like that....

Depends o what you are looking for m'niki. I work in De Bilt, close to Utrecht and tried to find a house there. You will need a lot of money to get something decent.
I assume your work doesn't have anything to do with computers. If so you will be online even at work.
Be warned, once hooked you will never get away form this.

The job has nothing to do with computers...and I heard it is hard to get a house in Utrecht..that's so strange 'cause in Nijmegen, when you work there, you get priority and can get a place in just a week! I won't buy a house, I'll rent it..maybe that changes perspectives?? I do hope so...I was told that in Overvecht it is very easy to get a house/apartment as it is not a nice neighbourhood...hm..I won't care how bad the neighbourhood is, as long as I get a place to stay! I'll contact the common hall (yes, my dictionary lays right beside me!) and ask what my opportunities are!

I don't know about renting a house/appartment in Utrecht. I tried one, but it was far too expensive for us.
Are you already informed about the virual presidential elections on h2g2.
On this page you can read all about it.

Always the campaigning presidential candidate. You're doing a good job DA . Who knows, you might even win some votes with it .
But anyway, that's always been a problem in Utrecht. It's so bloody expensive. Countryside is beautiful though...

AAAAAAAAAWRGH!!!
This afternoon I contacted the common hall of Utrecht and I have to wait about 3 till 5 years for a house there! Okay, I accepted that it would take long..but that long!!
S**t...
Then I called other "blabla's" (Partikuliere woningbureau's..hehe!) and they said I would have to wait a half year till a year...that's better...but my salary is too low, they think, and only in De Bilt I have a chance to get a home soon..well, De Bilt is perfect for me 'cause the job I'm having a job interview (thanx Kelhar!!) for is near De Bilt...but I just CANNOT wait so long for a room/apartment/house!!
Does anyone of you know other alternatives to get me a house soon?? For rent, I can pay about fl 750,- till fl 1000,- a month....
I'm starting to get frustrated here....

What about places like Almere? Usually there are houses or sale or rent. They're built for people just like you. And if nothing else, you can also look further to the west, in places in Zuid-Holland. Utrecht is easy to reach by train, and de Bilt is easy to reach by bus from Utrecht.
