however... i am a bit challenged in this stuff...
mainly cuz i have been outa the loop for a while

but i guess if i read all the faqs i will learn stuff?

one question if i may tho... at what level can i get access to browse the inet?

and what does a domain address look like?
i have a pet thingie i would like to make a site out of

As a regular member you get access to several web browsers (w3m,lynx, links, elinks) but I suspect by web access yo mean hosting... as a member you get access to both web and gopher hosting but you cannot do any (well very limited to the point of being useless on the web hosting side) server side (cgi) scripting (e.g. perl or php and similar scripting) for that you need ARPA membership which would also give you a boost in the amount of disk space you have available to host your site and give you access to tools that make it easier to upload stuff to your account.

Once you are a member the bulletin board is great place to get more information (just type 'bboard' (without the quotes) at the command prompt).

If you use a MS Windows machine to connect to SDF you may want to check out http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/

Domains are in the form yourlogin.something_predefined.foo the default for something_predefined.foo is freeshell.org but if you check the faq's you will there are many choices (see the box at the bottom of http://sdf.lonestar.org/index.cgi?members for a full list (the top box is those who pay an annual fee to host there own unique domain name)).

i have been sick and moving madly around the planet trying to find a place where i wont be sick anymore... (pulmonary stuff) and havent had internet or energy to do much but things are starting to look up and so yes i am alright and thank you for asking... and i will go there to that site again but tonite is my first real nite with internet in my (new) home and i just unpacked my bedding and put it yes you guessed it on the bed and am now going to go put myself there too and sssssssssleeeeeeep!

i am presently sitting in a cybercafe
waiting for a phone call from a guy who has a daybed and mattress for sale
for my new apt which is so tiny that a daybed is the only thing that will do
which new apt i just rented an hour ago
after spending the nite in a motel
after fleeing my new place i mentioned earlier
after the police took my statement and stayed by while i got all my stuff out
after my new housemate whom i had just met
upended a table on me in a fit of anger
after i wouldnt let him bully me
after i made the mistake from renting from him
after i made the mistake of not really checking him out

hehehe
i am okay now tho
and am going to walmart now to buy one of those foam mattresses to make do until i get a real one
