Down With Big Brother

In what seems to be yet another sweeping wave of genius on behalf of the Perth City Council, it has just today come to light that all 83 of the surveillance cameras in the Inner City that observe almost every moment of our daily lives will soon be connected to the Internet for all and sundry to see. Talk about your basic, run of the mill Orwellian nightmare come to life! Now, i don't know about anyone else, but I see this gesture as a disgusting invasion of privacy (or at least what was left of it) that can and probably will only lead to 'bigger, better things'. Any fool can see that this whole debacle is just a 'testing of the waters' as far as the public reaction is concerned, but then again, this is the kind of place that is run by overprivileged morons with too much money and haven't had an inkling of what the people really want for about 150 years. Thus, it really doesn't matter WHAT we say, or would say, if anyone had the fortitude to say anything at all here. Mr Orwell, I tip my hat to you. It seems you were a bit of a prophet....

Well, I was impressed.....

Just went out, (now that I have regained the faculty of independent movement) and saw X-MEN.
I wont go into the film or things like narrative structure, semiology or mise-en-scene or anything like that, i'll just say two words......
IT ROCKED!!!!!!!!!!!
OK, now back to my drink........smiley - smiley

Here's a funny little diddy....

Imagine you go out with your friends one night, and, having had quite a bit to drink, you decide to call a cab home. After all, that's the sensible thing to do, isnt it? Now imagine that, pulling up to your house, the cab driver stops and informs you as to how much the fare is. Now imagine you say right you are and step out of the taxi in order to access your wallet in your back pocket. Now imagine the cab driver imagining you actually have no intention at all to pay for the cab, but to run away. Finally, imagine the said cab driver knocking you out from behind, kicking your face in till your lip splits, and taking off.
That was my Friday night.
Love this city.
