you might be able to get the old one back, if you acsess the secret question

if you know the user you signed in with, and any password, it should after a few trys, ask for the secret answer to your secret question you used.

if you gain acsess just enter the details, and change the password, and email details, and anything you want to.

I could sign into it, but once I was there I couldn't get to my Personal Space.

sounds strange

try the, user only, and a fictitious password, when you get the failure message, usually after three attemps,it should ask for the secret answer, you see the question, so if you remember the answer, you should gain backdoor acsess.
