University for Beginners
Posted Oct 18, 2001
Universities are probably different all over the world. Of course there are many similarities too, but let's hope the following thing is unique to the one that I go to:
Students here have to sign in for several courses which are set to be either in the afternoon or in the evening. There are just so many students that it is difficult to get them all into the same one, so some of us are destined to stay until 7 PM on weekdays. Because we don't want to do that, everybody (EVERYBODY!!! of 280 students) rushes to the front of the class room to sign in. You are either lucky and get there first. Or you get lost along the way.Or you pick the late course.
It really looks like a cattle auction or an ant class reunion, only they act much more civilized along the way. No doubt.
Now, how is that like in other countries? Students of the world - please tell me what I'm missing and post your messages below.

Stadium of Fire
Posted Jul 13, 2001
There is a holiday in the USA which brings everyone together, rooting for the same thing, the celebration of Independence on July 4th. One place to go for anyone who has never seen it, is definitely the Stadium of Fire, at the BYU football stadium in Provo, Utah. The show is spectacular, the atmosphere is great, the fireworks stunning. And there are a couple of special famous guests.
Just make sure you figure out the right way back home, or you'll get stuck in the worst traffic jam (turn left after leaving the Stadium!).

the difference
Posted Nov 17, 2000
I think it's about time something is done about this.
The difference between Germany and the rest of the world is that (talking about fun) we are just a BORE! I just found out that we have to pay to watch the Super Bowl next year. "Premiere World - Pay TV" has the rights for televising German soccer, American ice-hockey, baseball and now -- the Super Bowl. Great, maybe just fly to the US. Could be cheaper.
