Me liked your journal entry about friendship... ~grin~... what film did you go and see... anything good?

Thanks for the welcome Greebo. At least I know someone is seeing what I type here And thanks for the praise on my friendship piece. I was tired and contemplative... so there it was. I went to see "Gone in 60 Seconds" It wasn't too bad. I'm not a big Ford guy, so the almost orgasmic attention given to the Shelby didn't really rock my boat, but it was decent overall.

Drache, I dislike Fords intensly, but I love that car. It is more a Shalby than a Ford. 60 seconds was a fairly good flick tho. Only prob when I saw it was the fact that when they were in the big car chase near the end, the power went out right after he hit the Nitro boosters. The whole auditorium went nuts. It came back on quickly, but it was a huge moment for the power to die. I could not stop laughing about it.

The power went out? That is way too funny! I bet there were a theatre full of unhappy people that night. Shelby was contracted by Ford to build the car I believe. He was also contracted by Chrysler to build a Charger, hence the "Shelby Charger" I guess you could call it either way, I'm just stubborn is all

I hate Fords too, but I drool over a Shelby. Fastest street car ever made. I made my sister-in-law very unhappy several days ago. She named my new nice Shelby, and I kept teasing her that she named her after the car. This last visit she said that she had named her after a tv character, so I baited her by asking when the show was on... the 80's. When I laughed and told her the car was made in the 60's, I think she was about to kick me out of the house. My niece was in my arms at the time, though, so she couldn't get violent.

I would love to have *any* Shelby designed car, the Cobra, the GT500 The Viper, Charger, and mostly the Sunbeam Tiger. My uncle has one of those little demons. One of the coolest caars ever. A car weighing less than 2000 pounds, with a 260 V8. An amazing car.

Consider yourself luck that she didn't take your neice, lay her gently down, then procede to wail on you
I've never heard of a Sunbeam Tiger. Care to tell me where I might find some info about it? Ohh, and two more questions/comments of the subject 1.) Wasn't it Hennasy(sp?) who specialty designed the Vipers? 2.) The Cobra may have been the fastest "American" street car, but it couldn't hold up to European built machines.

You can see some pictures of the Tiger at [Broken link removed by Moderator]. Hennesey just makes aftermarket upgrades for the Viper as far as I know. Here is an interesting timeline Bio of Carol Shelby [Broken link removed by Moderator]

Thanks for link. It's a beautiful car. And I do believe you are correct about Hennesey only tuning up cars for aftermarket purposes.

I have three loves in life. Computers, Cars and Hockey. I used to pit for a stock car and have driven a McLaren caanam. I have also placed 2nd in a thunder stock race. I love fast cars.

Ohh yeah, there is nothing quite like the feel of a street-screamer surrounding you. My baby, a slightly modified Z-28, rumbles in an almost poetic way. The unison of man and machine, in that specific context of course , is almost a religious experience. I've grown up with the images of pedal pushing, gear banging, hell on wheels cars dancing in my mind.
