h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Hey sea...I've taken it into my head to draw pictures of some of the more intersesting h2g2 characters. *Grins sheepishly* Well, I started with myself :] But could you tell me what sea looks like? And evillene? And any other characters you feel like having pictures of :] Johnny? Anyways...once I've done a couple, I'll stick 'em up on my page. Or not, because of all this copyright weirdness, but I'll think of something. Erm...how to say...I would be very much obliged?

well... let's see. evillene's easy, she's invisible. sea can see her, but evillene doesn't want her to describe her. however, we know that sea and evillene are identical twins (and evillene claims to have black hair)
johnny is, well, a black oval with eyes and sharp teeth. the other fuzzies are like that too...
sea, however, is a little more complicated. she's tall and thin, with blonde hair. she wears a black top and miniskirt with black combat boots, and sometimes a cloak. her eyes are green... naturally she has a perfect figure... you know, the video game stereotype personified.

i'd describe angel as well, but he's not terribly interesting, and he's only around when sea and evillene need a scapegoat or if a forum gets dull.


by the way, it's really cool of you to ask. i was considering drawing pictures of the characters too... but i'm too lazy.

oh, and if you're asking NYC too, he's out of town (away from computer) for thanksgiving, so he may not get back to you right away.

actually, i got a CD burner and a 17" monitor for the computer i've had for a while... so that's awesome. i'm really glad, because now i'll have a good computer to take with me to college! what about you? any incredibly wonderful gifts?

Nice pressie! Personally, I'm going to try and fail a dyslexia test in order to get a free computer at Uni from the government :] Nah, I wouldn't be THAT dishonest and manipulative. Uhm...

I (and my little sisters) collectively got a Dreamcast, which ain't bad! Especially considering we'd only asked for a playstation... :] Other than that, not much that's sublime and exciting. Oh, except the album Showbiz by Muse; it's VERY cool :]

Yeah that's right, if you're dyslexic the government gives you £1000 (about $1500, I think) worth of computer equipment for University. Pretty sweet I say :]

i'm 17 and 1 1/2 months! *grin* i'm still getting used to saying that, and being able to buy tickets to R rated movies...

Well? How Do you put a picture up on your page? :]

okay. here's the deal. it's not hard.

1. sign up for an account at [url removed by moderator](it's free, h2g2 sponsored, etc. they'll host your pics for you and you can link to them)

2. upload your pictures onto your account (they have to be in .jpg format, if they aren't already, you can use a photo editing program to save them under this format such as adobe photoshop, microsoft photodraw, etc)

3. while looking at your photo album, click the picture you want to put on your page. it should take you to an enlarged view.

4. on the right side of the pic, there should be a button that says "get a link to this picture". click it.

5. the link will appear above the picture. copy it (you'll need it later)

6. on h2g2, click "edit page" (i'll assume you know how to do that http://www.h2g2.com/h2g2/skins/Alabaster/images/Smilies/f_winkeye.gif" /> ) etc.

7a. if you're using GuideML:
put this tag into the spot where you want the picture:

Caption

where 'picture link' is the link you copied before, 'whatever' is either "LEFT", "RIGHT", or "CENTER" (whichever side you want it on- your text will wrap around it) and 'caption' is whatever you want it to say under the pic (ie. by Giguschild, etc.) leave that part blank if you don't want a caption.

7B. if you're using HTML:
put this tag into the spot where you want the picture:



where 'picture link' is the link you copied before, and 'whatever' is either "left", "right", or "center". you needn't use left, really, because your entry will automatically be aligned to the left unless you change that. you can't do captions in HTML.


remember: use the FULL address of the link, INCLUDING the http:// part.

Giguschild - are you SURE about this scheme? It sounds a bit generous of the government to me. You're sure we don't have to pay THEM EXTRA if we have this so-called "specific learning difficulty" (or whatever patronising term you care to come up with)? I hope you're right. Oh yes, I hope you're right...
