I'm on the coast as well, just well north of you (Vancouver, B.C.). Nice here on the edge of the world isn't it? smiley - smiley

btw, since you collect ferrets have you collected Ferretbadger here on Hootoo? Since they are illegal where you are, it would be much safer here. (Why are they illegal there anyway, they aren't here?)

Ferrets are illegal in California because the psychotic Department of Fish & Game in this state classifies them as "wild animals" and consider them a threat to our booming poultry industry. They seem to be under the impression that ferrets will build feral colonies and dessimate the chicken population.

...This despite the fact that:
1) Ferrets sold in the US are usually bred in captivity and have no hunting instinct, as evidenced by my friend Natalie's attempt to give hers a "more natural diet" of mice. The ferret was afraid of the mice.
2)Ferrets are generally given a life expectancy of 3 days in the wild, as compared to the 8-10 years they live as pets.
3) There are not, and have never been, feral colonies of ferrets in California.
4) Ferrets are legal in all other states in the US except for Hawaii, which is understandable as it is an island and cannot bear the introduction of alien species into is ecosystem.

They're trying to put through a bill that will give amnesty to ferrets currently in California and do a study to see if they're going to harm our ecosystem... but it's had quite a bit of resistance. Hope for it was renewed when the new Governor Gropenfuhrer was voted in, as he has been open to the opportunity to sign the bill (if it makes it to his desk). Gray Davis swore he'd never sign it. smiley - erm So we pray...

Wow, long post! smiley - winkeye

I see you have revealed that you are in fact a ferret. Odd really, since I'm actually a mongoose!

I had a step grand-mother who rolled the *R* when she read it aloud. It made it sound very exotic to a 9 year old.

btw, do you have any idea where the *ferret down the trousers* expression came from? I've always wondered. I can see where it would express nervousness but who thought of the idea, I wonder? smiley - laugh Sort of like the first person who ate a raw oyster. smiley - rofl

No, I don't, but I really wish I did!

Maybe I can find something through an internet search. Hmm....

Now the first person to eat a raw oyster with a ferret down their trousers, juggling a bowling ball, a flaming torch, and a running chain saw...*there* was a rebel!
