Who's Larry? (can you tell I'm a "Yank"?)
I've been acquainted with the original for quite some time (my father can recite the Beowulf in Anglo Saxon). Later I became a fan of the Matt Wagner comic book series by the same name. It's hard to say which I prefer at any given time.

Larry = Larry Niven, a sci fi writer. From his book Legacy of Heorot, where the top predator in an alien ecosystem is called a grendel - for good reasons Very good book, I would recommend it

Sounds interesting. I keep meaning to read Niven but never get around to it.
This may even be of interest to my father. One of his assignment to for his students is to compare Beowulf to the movie Aliens.

DARN! Neither of the two closest bookstores have it in stock (though both have the sequel Beowulf's Children).
