Thank you! smiley - biggrin

So, where are you from?

Your introduction page does not say much about you except that you exist and are here on h2g2.

About myself:

My given name is Leiann, hello! pleased to meet you smiley - smiley, and I am interested in making friends both online and in the world outside of the Internet.

I am Canadian -- resident of Canada and attending University in Sudbury, the province of Ontario -- and my major interest is my degree in university. I study HISTORY. I read history and then I am empathetic to what has happened to people and to their society. I am kind to people throughout history. I study how tradition and patterns of culture last and then change. I am interested in individuals, which is narrative history, or what their story was.

I also write historical fiction.

My degree is History, but I am interested in the future as well. Seasons in human history have repeated themselves, and I have an idea or two to forecast what the next season ahead of your and my own time would be like.

I've read, in a few of the threads that you posted in, that you are interested in different languages. What else are you interested in? Could you tell me more about yourself?

Message me soon. Bye for now. smiley - smiley

Fuathas

I appreciate your openess and sharing about yourself.

About myself, well, mostly I prefer staying in the shadows. I've lived in the US most of my life.

I have a liking for languages, history, science. Love listening to music and reading. I prefer a holistic approach to history and culture.

What else jumps to mind? Yeah, I'm a slobby and hasty poster, don't proofread and love joking around.

Hope that helps, a little at least.

Bye for now.smiley - biggrin

About a holistic approach to history:

If you are determined enough, and I know you are! smiley - smiley, you can 1st) find out what major groups were in action that made "the society" active and dynamic, 2nd) you can study public figures -or find an obscure person- to know what the intentions of these representative people were, 3rd) collaborate with other history researchers/or researchers to get a broad perspective to know what was going on with that society you are concerned with, and 4th) once you understand that society, you can then look at its foreign relations to get an idea of how nations at the time that you are studying interacted.

***Repeat this process either from studying micro-relations first (start with an individual), or from studying the macro-relations first (start with a nation's foreign relations), in any specific time period, and you will know why that Present Time's circumstances happened and you would also understand why a specific future happened.***

The history text books, that both you and I have read, have been put together either by starting a study with an individual first or with a study of a nation's foreign relations. I have just told you the basic process of researching to know history. A holistic approach is done by a very ambitious person who has patience and can work with other like-minded people. The stuff that both you and I are given to digest was packaged by people who had a goal and were willing to sweat their ambition through their pours to accomplish their goal.

***Think of a holistic approach to history as a pre-packaged meal-deal that you buy at the grocery store.***

Do you know how food packages are put together? Do you know how much effort and collaboration is done to make the final product? I can tell you that I know, and I know that a lot of work was done with a clear objective to achieve.

I will say that...

***History is like food: History can be digested by anyone. [Absorption varys]. But only those who like to work, and work with other people, can put history or meals together.***

Anyone can study an already prepared holistic history, and believe that.
But putting the knowledge together and presenting it is the real task. Putting history together is perhaps a job for crazy will-driven people (such as the stock that Alexander the Great comes from), and it is a job that is a hard job to do.

I am crazy and will-powered enough to know this. smiley - magic

Well, I am interested to know if you're in college. If you are, what kind of student are you? Are you a humanities student? A social-science/history student? A science student?

You are American? Congradulations for being allowed to have the title American, while Mexicans and Canadians for instance -although living on the same continent- can't call themselves American. Your title *American* indicates that your country owns the entire continent of North, Central, and South America. smiley - biggrinsmiley - ok

I am being funny. Ah well, smiley - biggrin.

You said that you lived in the United States for most of your life. Where did your parents come from? Did they move from, for instance, Ireland to the United States with you when you were a baby? What country are your parents from?

Here, you can look at my hobby website to see a recent photo of me (along with my aunt's dog):

You can still be shy, and not tell me your given name. For all you know and can trust is that I might be something of a conspiracy that is out to get you. Boo, I'm spooky smiley - ghost. However, I am simple and kind. I am out to make friends (enemies may or may not be included). Believe me or not. smiley - ok

I like Monty Python, and so I will ask you These Questions 3:

What is your name?
What is your quest?
What is your favourite colour?

Bye for now. *waves*

lol, I feel overwhelmed.

My name I won't tell. My quest is for knowledge. My favorite color is black.

I am patient and determined. I don't believe in conspiracy theories.

You are not simple. not at all.

smiley - winkeye

What did spark your interest in me?

Hello Neighbour! :-)

***This Is A Long Post, But Read On.***

About your question...

What sparked my interest in you?

Well, Monsieur Fuathas I try to socialize. I talk a lot as well. I like making friends. I am not a recluse or a sectarian. I am trying to socialize with you right now, and so I talk with you. You seem like you are similar to me, or like-minded, and so that is why I am interested to speak with you. You are giving me a chance to talk with you, and so I am here.

You are shy about giving your true name. So, I will call you Mr. Black because black is your favourite colour. I have nicknames as well, such as Blue Fish and one that I give myself, which is Monkey.

Now to answer the 3 Questions that I asked you:

What is my name? Leiann Marie Hill.
[but you already know my first name].
What is my quest? To seek the Holy Grail that is knowledge!
What is my favourite colour? Blue.

Well, Fauthas (I am using your h2g2 self-given name), this quest of knowledge that you are on, I ask you what have you found so far? You've perhaps read philosophy, so I ask you what have you so far found for you to know? I personally think Descartes was too paranoid. I agree with him that you can trust your own thinking mind, but I disagree with him that one can only trust his or her own mind and not trust the experience of others. Descartes was severely socially impaired. I try not to be socially impaired, which is why I am talking to you! I am trying to make a dialog so that we can relate to each other only if we are not wholely alien to each other. smiley - ok Well, on the Internet, I am only a mind with a picture of my body appended to my hobby website. I can't sit in front of the computer for hours and hours, UNLESS I am truly fascinated, because my body can't be sorely forgotten for that long. I also disagree with Descartes about the mind/body dichotomy or split. I think that he was a bit mad, and not a good "crazy" like I am. smiley - biggrin The dissemination of Descartes' ideas have made Western Civilization skeptical and paranoid for the past 400/300 years! smiley - applause Descartes said that nobody could relate to him, which he showed in his writings. But ironically his ideas were related, through a dialog, to other human beings. Now the result is that there are many people who, at best, will only trust their own minds and their own experience, but they think that other people cannot understand them. Society has been for some time socially impaired because of Descartes' insane paranoia. smiley - biggrinsmiley - ok I choose to fix this current social disrepair by trying to create a dialog with people. I will be beaten up along the way, but I will die trying.

Also it is good that you don't believe in conspiracy theories.
smiley - applausesmiley - ok

And I will also tell you that I am both complex and simple at the same time. Here is how I prove my complexity/simplicity paradox: My given name Leiann is complex because it is wholely different and can be misspelled because it is different. My last name Hill is a very simple name that is easily understood and spelled correctly everytime.

Another further example would be to only look at my first name, Leiann, and see that it is a unique/different spelling of a common name.

I say it is good that you are talking with me. As you can tell, I wholely value language and use it to speak with you. The way that humans can relate to each other is only through language. In this case, the language that I use are words alone. I hope that my words invoke an understanding of my intention and what I speak of.

Tell me more about yourself. I can speak about myself for hours and hours, but you will only know me and that I can talk about myself for hours and hours.

Bye for now!
smiley - somersault

I looked in one of your conversations with "the Bishop", and I saw that you indicated that you like roleplaying.

I left you a short message asking you about your interest.
