How's about ?
It's nice and sunny here, anyway.
Anything "milky" is good for dealing with viruses, in moderation ...
So,
>> Do you really think this disease is caused by sin/technology/a movement towards liberalism/advances in scientific knowledge?<<
I wouldn't say that it was directly caused by anything in particular, but environmental factors surely can't be ruled out. I hear, for example, that scientists are saying that the "global warming" phenomenen is predicted to cause the acidity in the sea to increase, thereby seriously affecting marine life!
Mexico-city, so I understand, is one of the highly polluted cities in the world, and as I believe that "cleanliness is next to Godliness", we're back to environmental factors again. The regime of what pigs are fed on and how they are "housed", and the risk of animal disease could also be a connection to consider ...
>>In my opinion, all jokes aside, it is not a judgement by God.
It's just another tragedy.<<
I know what you mean, but it's not necessarily God who "looks down on us and sends us a calamity", but it's our own conduct that can be responsible for these things, and that includes the predicted signs of the apocalypse. Look at the plague of London - all those people greedily crowding in to unsanitary conditions in "the city", perhaps.
I hope I've given you food for thought ... and hope you like the cake ...
Peace

It is certainly a better cake... but I prefer chocolate.
One of the rumours I heard is that the disease started in one particular pig farm-- can't remember where-- that is notorious for its uncleanliness. Although I can't imagine a sterile, shiny pig farm...
But I think global warming is more of a polar icecaps scenario than a pig death one.

So then what about that Modern Lifestyles thing? I think that was the main part of my superpost.

"like HIV/aids, it's probably connected with mankind's modern life-styles" implies that you think it is caused or assisted by, well, Modern Lifestyles. So what do you mean by Modern Lifestyles, and why would it cause or assist or allow for swine flu?

Modern Lifestyles thing?
I'm referring to the increasing tendency of mankind to put economic issues before that of any other, particularly that of religious nature.
The western lifestyle is being copied all "over the globe", never mind whether it be north, south, east or west. This apparently successful "system" is based on economic prosperity from usury. It is now beginning to collape in a serious way, but still mankind continues with their desire for the lifestyle that it brings. So much so, that they are prepared to go to war for it. The dollar (or oil ), has been the world's "driving force" for the last couple of centuries. I don't think it's likely to continue, but it's relatively early days yet, oil production is unlikely to stop overnight.
Nevertheless, it's likely that the world will experience a very serious down-turn, and who knows what uncharted terrirory that's leading us into (except for God, of course).
In fact, God teaches us that if we want to prosper as individuals and nations, we should heed His wisdom that He's taught us and love Him more than worldly wealth. God doesn't let us down, there's many sacrifices to make, yes, but in the long run stability and wealth follow ...
I'm rambling ... modern lifestyle thing ... yes, I mean the scientific technological advances (not necessarily bad in themselves!) that have been possible due to the immoral financial sytem, that has/is caused a widening gap between rich and poor. The increase of fossil fuel use, and the consequential pollution (dirt, amongst other things, oil is 'filthy') all contribute to our suffering ...
Peace

First, clever of you to recycle my words--and I do mean that. I almost laughed when I read them.
Anyway, yes, oil is a terrible thing to overuse, co2 in the atmosphere and whatnot. Fortunately, with all the research-- those scientific technological advances there-- we might not be relying on fossil fuels for all that long. Give it a couple decades.
And yes, I hate it when people love money more than anything else. But not everyone is obsessed with money, although some people will kill just for the appearance that they deserve the very best. I think eradicating poverty, while it is a lofty goal, is entirely possible, given time. The worst we can do by trying is lower the poverty rate.
I assumed by your comparison with AIDs that you thought the individuals who contracted the swine flu were somehow responsible, as if they had earned it. Sorry if I misunderstood.

And, by the way, rambling isn't all that bad.

"rambling isn't all that bad"
I suppose it depends what I'm saying
I remember a "Led Zepplin track" of old entitled "ramble on"
I think it involved Tolkien's lord of the rings plot ...
